Alexander Lercher of Rockefeller's Rice lab studies how fighting off one virus changes the way the immune system responds to a totally unrelated one. His work is uncovering immune pathways that let our bodies adapt to viral threats over time. 🔗: bit.ly/43GfYWw

The integrated stress response fine-tunes stem cell fate decisions upon serine deprivation and tissue injury
Novak et al. discover that dietary serine impacts whether hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) prioritize hair growth or skin repair after injury. HFSCs gauge metabolic stress using the ISR and accelerate re-epithelialization while delaying hair regeneration when serine-deprived. These findings suggest new metabolic and pharmacologic strategies to enhance wound repair.
