Thanks for your response. But, if it’s not a model of human-level cognition, then how does its intractability show that human-level AI is intractable? AI-by-Learning as specified seems like just one way to build such AI, and one that may be more tractable in practice if D is structured.

Q: Surely by this paper's definition of “human-level AI,” humans aren’t human-level either? Humans don’t efficiently solve arbitrary worst-case learning problems merely by sampling examples from a distribution. Real-world problems are likely much more structured and tractable.

Have you ever felt like something was missing from your #fmri results? Have you been worried about potential reproducibility issues? Well, this new @natmethods.nature.com article with 40+ coauthors shows how the simple change to transparent thresholding helps both. Go Figure! rdcu.be/B4tikBETdQZa
A comparison of old and new thresholding approaches for fMRI data. The newer, transparent thresholding allows for interpreting context, more complete modeling, a reduction of biases and an increase in meaningful content. This all leads to more accurate interpretations and improved reproducibility evaluations.

The poorest 20% of UK population pay a higher proportion of income in direct and indirect taxes compared to the richest 20%. Dividends and capital gains, mainly accruing to the well-off, are taxed at lower marginal rates than wages. Progressive taxation wasn't part of the King's Speech.

Not really. Industrial revolution had lots of social unrest, e.g. the Luddites here in Nottinghamshire and the Swing riots. They broke farm and textile machinery because it was putting people out of work and suppressing wages. The situation is similar

Additionally, hippos - despite being massive - have almost no fat on them. All of that impressive bulk is muscle. 2% body fat. Compare that to Elephants, which are around 8-10%, or rhinos, which are 10-20%. The average human is around 20-40%, for reference. They're *all* muscle.
A comparison, showing a hippo standing in shallow water, and a see-through model of a hippo with an extremely thin layer of subcutaneous fat and skin over a body that's thick with muscle.

If you keep using #Twitter, be aware that the content pushed to your feed is extremely distorted towards right-wing/anti-immigrant ideology. This paper provides clear evidence for that: "Political Biases on X before the 2025 German Federal Election" arxiv.org/abs/2503.02888
Diagram showing Twitter activity data. It compares how much people have talked about different political parties in Germany versus how often were pushed to people's "for you" feed, indicating a clear bias towards the anti-immigration AfD and BSW parties.
