Excerpt from Lewis Fry Richardson’s article “Distribution of Wars in Time” in Nature (!), from 1945.

It applies the Poisson law to the distribution of wars in time, and notes that “other phenomena known to be described by the Poisson law include the distribution of alpha particles emitted by radioactive substances, or deaths by kick from a horse.”

A badge that shows Francis Fukuyama in a pensive pose, it looks like it's stitched. Around the portrait of Fukuyama, it has a slogan running a circle, which says "history ain't gonna end itself." Unfortunately, I nabbed this somewhere from the internet and do not recall who made it.

but consider this: if you don't teach your students how to responsibly use AI to kill all of humanity with a more than 10% chance within the next decade, they're going to be left behind and be unprepared for the job market that won't exist!

GenAI is everywhere. But should it? @jrodehaun argues that reasons for LLM adoption are largely based on technological determinism. Instead, we need to bring politics back in: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
