The UK will experience a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August. The extent of the Sun's coverage and the timing of maximum obscuration will differ across the country. Never look directly at the sun; use a pinhole projector or certified eclipse glasses to view it.

Last week, about a third of the History department were able to gather together on graduation day. Rather than lend our intellectual authority to the official procession and ceremony we invited our students to come and celebrate their achievements with us in a shady courtyard. They came. 1/

OK, I'm starting to get sick of the heat. Here's the River Cam frozen over in 1963 with people skating to try and feel a bit cooler. We do have air conditioning in the Cambs Collection search room if you want to cool down a bit though.
