The only way to prevent geoengineering turning into a giant shitshow is to have a robust and credible planetary governance structure, but if we had one of those we would have already stopped climate change

Less Than 1% Of International Development Finance Targets Air Pollution - Health Policy Watch
International development lenders committed $4.7 billion in 2024 to projects aimed explicitly at reducing air pollution, less than 1% of all international development finance, according to an annual analysis published Tuesday by the Clean Air Fund (CAF).

I knew gas cooking released pollutants that increase risks of cardiovascular diseases and cancers, but this was new to me: In a new study, 68% of gas-fired commercial kitchens exposed cooks to unsafe temperatures >90 °F, and 53% to temps >100 °F. All electric kitchens studied stayed at safe temps.

Really important point i hadn't seen yet, which is that AI data center proposals are concentrated in gas reservoir basins, bypassing federal permitting altogether by avoiding the need for interstate pipelines. All of the smoke about transmission costs reforms look different in this light.

oilchange.org/blogs/senate... I saw this on gas infrastructure siting which is maybe an interesting point to bring up. However this brings up another question. Will gas ratepayers have to pay for this gas buildout? How does gas infrastructure financing even work?

You are of course free to decide for yourself whether you agree with this value judgment, but I think it's important to ask how these think tanks treat exports in their modeling. If they choose to ignore pollution from exports, what other ideological choices are

A very common modeling jujutsu move is to assign the US zero responsibility for pollution from oil and gas it exports. "Oil and gas exports don't heat the planet, people who burn oil and gas exports heat the planet." This is an ideological choice, a value judgment akin to "guns don't kill people,

Album cover for Wall of Eyes by The Smile. It’s a weird looking pointy looking sparse forest with very sharp pine trees and the sky is orange with some weird blue wavy bits.
