Interior but in a relatively smaller frame that’s friendlier on the roads? Or is (as I suspect) the actual point of “luxury” cars like Bentleys, Jags, and Tonka Truck Range Rovers, to be just these massive dominant tank-like things on the street.

There was an interesting discussion on here (can’t remember where sorry) on whether EVs had to have the same form as cars? Like, obviously at the mo, they’re fitting EV parts into existing body shapes, but do they have to do that from an engineering view? Could one make an EV with a “luxury”

Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. How many 50-year-old roofers there are? Zero. One reason unions fight for high wages is because careers are SHORT.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵

“Infinite personalized music” sounds like hell on earth. I don’t want anything that is “me” for a moment, never mind forever. I am not, and never have been, a combination of Lou Reed, Eiko Ishibashi, Gavin Bryars and Madonna. But it turns out my listening is. Today.

If your Dad is a billionaire & you want to be an artist you have to do some Scott Walker shit. With a safety net that thick, it's a sin to half-ass it. You better be hiring an entire division of sumo wrestlers to slap their bellies as the percussion track on your next single.

Yeah - Netflix have the best kids tv viewing experience (unfortunately) - the strict 10 secs counter to the next episode, screw the credits, ha. And then, of course, if they hit the end of the series, it auto-plays Danny Jump or something.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.
“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”
