Two human beings have died on campus in the last 30 days. One of those humans beings was not staff or student of faculty of the university. The other human being may be. I wouldn't know because the university has policy of not acknowledging the deaths of human beings on campus regardless of cause.

Deep in their evolutionary history, gastropods underwent a process called 'torsion' in which their digestive track folded back in on itself such that the anus exits directly above the head in nearly all snails. For this reason, I am afraid most snails identify with the Rationalist community.

One fashion tidbit I keep thinking about lately is buttons. Do you know how massive button-making was? Before zippers and plastic, mind you, buttons were MADE BY HAND. First appeared in the Indus Valley 2800 BCE, made of shells--and not as fasteners, but decoration. Button holes came later.
An assortment of buttons from the 18th-20th centuries, featuring boats, a Virgo, playing cards, and a dragon. From the Met museum.
