Like all of our products and features, Audio Intelligence on Apple Watch was built from the ground up to protect your privacy.
• Audio is not recorded or stored. Audio Intelligence features don't create audio recordings. No audio can be accessed by the operating system, apps, you, or even Apple.
There is no recording to share, forward, or produce if requested by any party, because no recording exists.
• Raw audio is never accessible. Audio flows into a protected buffer inside the S11 chip's Secure Exclave — a hardware-isolated compartment built into the silicon of Apple Watch and iPhone that processes sensor data separately from the rest of the system. Data that is processed and analyzed in the Secure Exclave can't be accessed by the operating system, apps, you, or even Apple. Once processed, this data is immediately deleted.
• Siri Recap and Live Rewind help jog your memory, not provide a detailed record. Siri Recap doesn't produce a transcript. It generates a brief, high-level summary — comparable to notes you might jot down after a conversation. Live Rewind shows a text snippet of what was just said in the last 15 seconds, so you can catch something you missed.

• No speaker attribution. By design, Audio Intelligence features don't identify and attribute speakers. Siri Recap may contain names if mentioned in the conversation, but doesn't directly attribute speakers (for example, "John said..." or labeling as "Speaker A" versus
"Speaker B"). Similarly, Live Rewind may transcribe what someone said word-for-word, but does not attribute quotes to speakers.
• Audible and visible signals for Live Rewind.
When activated, an audible chime plays from the speaker on your Apple Watch, even if your Apple Watch is on silent or you have headphones connected. A full-display animation and microphone indicator appear on the display, and a distinct double-press gesture is required to activate Live Rewind. This is to alert those nearby that the feature has been activated.
• Omitted content. Siri Recaps are designed to omit potentially harmful content, such as language that promotes self-harm or hateful speech, and sensitive information, such as financial data, government-assigned identifiers, authentication data, and certain personal identifiers.
• Be mindful of those around you. While audio is not recorded and stored, and no speakers are attributed, consider those around you where conversations might be private or sensitive.

The CDC just updated its cyclospora surveillance data. It now says it has received reports of more than 19,000 cases since May 1st, though 11,500 of those haven't been confirmed yet. To put that into perspective, there were about 2,800 cases reported annually in the US between 2016 and 2023.

A chart i whipped up trying to put the current CDC tally in perspective. 2022-2025 annual totals for cyclosporiasis cases range from 2,000 to 5,000. Meanwhile the provisional case total for 2026 is at 19,225 and it's only week 31. Source: NNDSS weekly cumulative case totals for U.S. residents. Note: The week 31 value for 2026 reflects the latest tally published by the CDC on July 28. This includes 6,707 lab-confirmed domestic cases, 1,018 lab-confirmed international cases, and 11,500 additional cases reported to (but not yet confirmed by) CDC. NNDSS case totals may not match case data published by the CDC or state health departments during this outbreak due to lags in reporting and differences in how the CDC separates domestic and international exposures.

Update: An FDA spokesperson confirmed that the agency has removed New York from its map of states where the recalled Taylor Farms lettuce was "confirmed" to be distributed after I reached out to ask them about New York's inclusion. NY's inclusion on the map appears to have been in error.

To be clear, the lettuce the FDA determined was a false positive is *not* the same lettuce that Taylor Farms recalled, which was sent to 27 states up until Thursday The tested lettuce was a different lot, intercepted during import surveillance. It’s unclear if FDA has tested the recalled lettuce.

UPDATE: Jack in the Box just confirmed to me that it also received the cyclospora-linked lettuce from Taylor Farms The lettuce was sent to Jack in the Box stores in Texas, Oklahoma, & Louisiana. The company says it told restaurants to remove the product after learning about the issue on Thursday

Again, weird way to cover this. Every public company files an annual 10k with the SEC that includes a disclosure of known risk factors to investors, and common types of food-borne illness would be included for *any* food service company. Like they’d legally have to include them.
