🚨BREAKING: In a major win for voters, Maryland’s Supreme Court just cleared Democrats’ redistricting amendment for the November ballot. If approved, it could help counter GOP gerrymanders and reshape the 2028 map.

Maryland Supreme Court upholds Democrats' redistricting plan
Should voters approve the measure upheld by the court, it would clear the way for state Democrats to redraw congressional maps for the 2028 election.

Last night was a huge victory for those of us who have been fighting election denialism. Trump’s claims were fact checked and dismissed in real time. Major media refused to air his speech. Today’s coverage is critical. These things would not have happened a decade ago

The upcoming midterm elections are going to be contested amid a broken Voting Rights Act, "rigorously" invalidated campaign-finance laws, and federal election commissioners who can be fired for no reason. The only people who voted for this absurd legal regime are the unelected justices on the Court

See, people always want to make this just about "sports," but the real upshot here is that, 6-3, trans women can't make a claim under the Equal Protection Clause. And if they can't do that, it's hard to see how they have constitutional rights.

IMPORTANT to know that the vast majority of Haitians with TPS entered the country legally at ports of entry, not illegally. The majority have NEVER violated the law. The admin stripped their status by breaking the law, but today SCOTUS says courts can't do anything about that.
Chart shows Haitian migrant encounters by entry method, January 2021 to January 2025, showing that after mid-2022, nearly every entry was legal.

To be clear: the lower court said the map intentionally discriminates against black people in violation of the *constitution* (not just the VRA) and the MAGA Majority of SCOTUS is saying "that's ok now."

This is absolutely outrageous. SCOTUS reinstated Texas gerrymander 15 weeks before primary because they claimed it was too close to election to block it but now allowing Alabama to gerrymander one week before primary after trial court found map was intentionally discriminatory against Black voters

it’s so crazy that Virginia voters amended the constitution to allow redistricting while Florida voters amended the constitution to ban gerrymandering… but the Republican hacks on both state supreme courts overturned the will of the voters to ensure that republicans get their preferred outcome

4. Kagan explains this well, but what's perhaps most galling about Callais is how the majority effectively overrules Congress's judgment about how best to enforce the Reconstruction Amendments, as it did in Shelby County. This extreme judicial activism is a huge threat to democratic self-governance.

Kind of wild that while food assistance was withheld from millions of families, one Trump-supporting billionaire (Ellison) saw his net worth grow more this year than the entire SNAP budget. And the YTD gains of the other four richest men would’ve fully covered salaries for all 2M federal employees.
Table showing the five richest men in the U.S from Bloombergs billionaire list
., all in technology. Elon Musk tops the list with a net worth of $461B and a year-to-date gain of $28.2B. Larry Ellison is second at $300B with a $107B YTD gain. Jeff Bezos has $268B (+$29.5B YTD), Larry Page $250B (+$81.9B YTD), and Sergey Brin $234B (+$75.5B YTD).
