Soil health is a concept we often invoke, but struggle to measure. Our team will use some amazing tools -allowing us to measure and model this critical metric, and develop more rigorous strategies to encourage sustainable agriculture and food security.

Sorry, the sentence is a beauty, but I can’t agree. It’s not at all straightforward to measure population growth rates ‘in the wild’. And we have good evidence that culture-based growth rates do not predict wild, community-based growth rates.

It cost far more than the DOE award… but I’m so proud we did it! It brings me great joy to open the app and see we’re living on free energy from the sun. And even more exciting to think that we will someday be a tiny piece of the data that my colleagues put together in the LLNL energy flowcharts…

We installed 7kW solar & 15kW battery, enough to run our household, partly charge the car, and someday run a heat pump & appliances. It took many months. A huge amount of my husband’s time. In Berkeley there are countless hoops, and we’re not paid for what we send to the grid (good reasons).

I listened again & again to make sure it was real. Among many wonderful things—it came with a $$ award. Enough to save for something special. For years it sat in savings … but last fall, w/ the home solar tax credit ending, it was time.
