Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS) disproportionately contribute to global productivity and fisheries. We looked at response of phytoplankton to climate change in these regions and found that productivity declines in 25% of the area, which would impact livelihoods of coastal communities.🌊

For a century, we’ve essentially been running an Enhanced Weathering field trial. In our Nature paper out yesterday, we show that agricultural liming in the Mississippi River Basin acted as a net CO₂ sink—while offering a rare century-scale analogue for EW. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

🌊 The GO-BGC @globaloceanbgc.bsky.social project nears its end on Oct. 31 when 500 @bgc-argo.bsky.social floats with chemical and biological sensors for ocean health will have been deployed. The array will then begin to decline as there is no future funding to replace floats as batteries are 1/2
