Trying to encapsulate all sports with a single word was really hard, I tried to find stuff that also works for racing but that was even more problematic. Naming aside, I do play to support racing in some form!

Boost Sports has been a working title, and might stick around. But I want to explore other names that give the app it's own identity as well.

I would have my camera on 95% of the time, and if I needed it off I'd make sure to specifically say so and apologize. Half the time his was off because he was driving from a chiropractic appointment to a lunch appointment, and this would happen for *investor* calls.

I used to work with a guy who would have his camera off 50% of the time, and yet would absolutely make sure to berate you for ever doing the same as "not being dedicated to the business".

I don't hate it either, but my thinking is that I want the app to have it's own identity, and for that identity to be appealing to people who are potentially unfamiliar with both Boost Blue and Bluesky generally. But Boost Sports is still a potential candidate.

v2 of @boostsports.bsky.social is conceptually done. I'll be cleaning up the UX and testing over the weekend, hoping to have it released next week. There are some really cool ideas here, very excited to show this off. After that, I'll start working on abstracting this out into a dedicated app.

Sneak peek at something the Bluesky team is working on. Screenshot shows the Bluesky app with the drawer open, with a new drawer menu item called "Atmosphere (Beta)". The content to the right shows what an activity feed of stuff happening in the Atmosphere might look like. All content is WIP, we'll share more soon.

Obviously I'm biased here. But @boostblue.bsky.social can monetize its users, it just doesn't have enough of them. Bluesky has plenty of users, and needs a way to monetize them. 🤝

Monetization idea for Bluesky: Promote third-party clients with a revenue share agreement, essentially turning them into unofficial "Bluesky Pro" services. That would mean giving up a lot of control over the ecosystem, but it aligns really well with the open ethos of ATProto.

A popular local chain called JCWs that has great cheese fries, and a special fry sauce. Fry sauce is a mix of mayo and ketchup served at basically every burger resteraunt in Utah. JCWS adds a bit of BBQ sauce and heats it up. 😋

For those following my “for Bluesky” fun with app review. I’ve updated my rejection and resubmitted to Apple after hearing from the Bluesky team. As a note for other devs, this usage is explicitly allowed in the Bluesky trademark policy in section 4.3: bsky.social/about/support/trademarks

I am not joking when I say this. Spotify, Apple Music, and streaming in general is over. My vinyl collection is now very, very good. You don't know yet because all all the vinyl bangers circulating today are only being played in my office. All my vinyls have solved infinite bangers.

"for X" is protected under nominative fair use, established with New Kids on the Block v. News America Publishing. (obviously, not a lawyer, but I did cite both of these points when initially getting Boost published)

It might be worth just resubmitting and hoping the next reviewer is better. Alternatively if you're going to appeal, some info from the appeal I was writing expecting a rejection: "for X" has been a standard App Store naming convention since "Tweetbot for Twitter" launched in 2012.

Probably good news here, Boost Blue just was approved. That suggests inexperienced reviewers rather than a systematic change in enforcement from Apple. @cameronbanga.com @tunji.dev

Does anyone have any connections at Apple? Both @getskyscraper.com and @heron.social are getting App Store rejections for being copycats. The way this is being applied essentially bans 3rd party clients, which I doubt is intentional.
