Our Rebellion! exhibition opens at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead on 23 October and will run until 20 February. Here is something about the project.

$Poster with fluorescent pink header and yellow background. The words on the poster read: Rebellion! About the project Rebellion! is a social documentary photography project which explores protest as an essential part of the cultural identity of Great Britain. The project includes photographs and testimony from protesters, as well as from those who may have been targeted by the protests. It explores the social issues around protest, such as the fracturing of social cohesion in blighted post- industrial communities which fuel dissatisfaction with the status quo. Rebellion! has been developed in part as a response to the introduction of draconian anti-protest legislation by successive governments and the imprisonment of peaceful protesters. The project makes no judgement about the merits of the various protests shown here.$

What on earth is happening?

This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.
