Apparently the answer to “should I really go take photos in this weather?” was yes. A rainy Birmingham night photo walk turned into stop-motion — fewer frames, wider crops, and lots of wet streets and reflected light. www.instagram.com/babwithacamera #blueskyartshow #photography

Wonderful choice! I’m curious, after seeing it so many times, is there a particular detail you always find yourself looking at first? It's interesting how cattle can carry associations with prosperity and abundance in Dutch painting. In the UK, so many of our paintings focus on horses or old ships

#Birmingham — a city of strangers in passing. Motion blur, bokeh, silhouettes in the rain. The imperfections feel like the point. Everyone had somewhere to go. For a fraction of a second, their lives crossed inside my frame — then they were gone. Where do you imagine they were going? #photography

Kind of terrifying to read as a recent Photography graduate. The arts are an act of resistance when technology becomes a tool of oppression. which makes cutting arts education in response to AI feel completely backwards.

“A fish rots from the head” feels increasingly less like a proverb and more like a job description. When did loyalty to a politician become a measure of someone’s ability to serve the public?

Now comes the interesting question: what should one of Birmingham's best-known buildings become next? And what, if anything, should be preserved from its Rackhams identity?

Rackhams → House of Fraser → ? I photographed the Corporation Street building in 2024, while people were still passing beneath it every day. House of Fraser closed in 2026. The building remains. #Birmingham #StreetPhotography

A little portrait study from a train through Birmingham: Between Stops. I'm really drawn to photographing people through glass/reflections because you stop getting a clean separation between subject and place. Photographers — 1 or 2? #blueskyartshow #blackandwhite

Digging into the archive. Behind the scenes with Sam Cole on a music video shoot, 2020. I’ve always liked photographing the space between takes — when someone is half performer, half themselves. Do you prefer shooting the performance or what happens around it?

a billionaire promises a working city on the moon by the early 2030s. propose housing everyone already on earth and suddenly it's unrealistic, too expensive, decades away. space isn't the ambitious part. it's just the part where the payoff stays private.

We should all be worried about "dynamic pricing." That's when companies change their prices in real time. If it's hot out, the cost of ice cream could go up. If it's cold, tea bags could go up. It's a way for giant companies to squeeze you even more.

John Berger’s "Ways of Seeing" introduced me to Duchamp and completely changed the way I understood what art could be. But lately I’ve wondered whether his revolution has almost been reversed. Once the art world institutionalises the anti-art gesture, does some of its original message decay?
