I don't know how to get over the fact that companies immediately were like "eh, fuck our customers" as soon as US food safety standards were legally loosened. The infrastructure was already there. There had to be a conscious decision and action to fuck things up as badly as they did.

The grocery store employee was gonna ring up my leeks as bok choy because they didn’t know what a leek was, and even though it would have been cheaper for me, I corrected them. Everyone deserves to know what a leek is. Thems yummy.

It's very sad how widespread political ignorance is, and I don't even mean the confident variety. Too many people don't know or care to learn how their own political system works. Even if you "don't do politics", politics are doing you. It's weird to not want a say in what that looks like.
