this has been the same argument my life, and it has yet to reduce racism. Indeed racism is stronger than ever.

just had a great idea of how to do space boarding combat: Everyone has a soul catcher chip in their head and it's considered bad to destroy them. Most space combat is fought with drones, but you can't blow up a command ship even if it refuses to surrender, so you got to board.

This is actually the story of the polling on the military coup btw. Rank and file Democrats are going to be not just tolerant of, but actively demanding illiberal measures directed at the conspiracy against the Republic.

This is absolutely right, but the key is that Republicans would be the ones to force the issue. Many Democrats just refuse to take the open shot at Musk. He's a ripe, rich target, and an obvious way to dramatize key issues and mobilize key voters, but some of them are still sitting on their hands.

All joking aside, I think this is inevitable. They're always going to end up with tough times rhetoric because 1) they refuse to deal with the economy that exists rather than the one they wish they had 2) They refuse to actually do anything socially liberal

It’s not even slightly difficult to work out who the good guys and bad guys are in the Cancel Culture bullshit, and it never was. It is *politically awkward to explain*, because the pundits have been 100% on the side of evil and malice for many years now.

Saying Ms Rachel is an antisemite is doing this on steroids (from Ezra Klein)
I think it's an incredibly dangerous game that pro-Zionist people have phyed trying to conflate those things. Because if you tell people enough times that opposing Israel is to be antisemitic, at some point they're going to say: Then I guess I'm antisemitic

Somewhat ironically, the one part of the article that talks about how some influencers / new media have attended "exclusive" conferences is no different than how politicians have held "exclusive" press conferences for legacy outlets like the NYT. Sounds like someone is jealous...

If you're wondering what the actual crux of the article is, it's this. "The administration regularly sends the influencers memos on the mayor’s priorities" The mayor sends out press releases... That's it. That's where taxpayer money is going supposedly. On writing press releases. How terrible.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.

The Batman Knightfall/etc trilogy really benefits from how insulated Batman comics are while Death of Superman is a great idea that has to overcome the dogshit plotlines happening in the wider DC Universe at the time.
Doomsday fighting the Justice League International featuring a guy whose power is Slave Magicks, Guy Gardner using a yellow ring powered by his own bullshit instead of fear, and a woman whose entire deal is wanting to fuck Superman (not pictured. Blue Beetle, Fire/Ice, and Booster Gold are ok but this is probably the weakest incarnation of the team literally and metaphorically. Lex Luthor when he faked his death and put his brain into a clone and claimed to be his own Australian son, sitting intimately with Supergirl who is at this point actually a blob creature named Matrix. Doomsday splattering Matrix Supergirl with a single punch but if you don't know shes a blob creature instead of any of the other supergirls this is very confusing. Jim Harper Guardian whose design is absolute shit, like, made in Hero Machine with a couple clicks bad

In 2014 we published the first large-scale study of suicidality in autism, subsequently widely replicated, revealing that 1 in 4 autistic people have planned or attempted suicide. That’s why I’m very concerned about the impact of the media coverage on Professor Jason Arday who is autistic. He has been accused of plagiarism and he was cleared of any academic misconduct following a rigorous investigation by Liverpool John Moores University. And yet he continues to be systematically discredited over every detail of his life, daily. We should of course always investigate plagiarism to protect academic standards. However, I cannot stand by and watch when an autistic man is on the ground and the kicking continues. This is relentless bullying of a vulnerable autistic man and raises safe-guarding issues. It’s time to stop."
