Here's the first of two little things I've made to celebrate 60 years of a television show that became more television shows (plus some movies) and sometimes dropped some nuggets of actual wisdom. Happy #StarTrekDay to all who celebrate. 🖖

My own idea for an upgraded DS9 (not a replacement) is that Starfleet build a new third outer ring, respecting the proportions of the station. It would greatly expand capacity and facilities while preserving and maintaining the original Cardassian design.

More T'Pring. Old novels try so hard to make me think she's evil but instead I'm asking myself what would make a(n especially Vulcan) child noticeably 'cold' or 'manipulative' and the answers I'm coming up with are quite sad.

Excerpt from the novel 'Sarek' by A.C Crispin wherein Amanda says "I don't like her. That child is...I don't know. She's too polite, too...calculating. There's something...cold...about her."

A small comic is depicted below it showing T'Pring, a six year old, being given a ball by Amanda. She does not emote except to look at the ball and then at Amanda. The following exchange takes place.

"Do you like the ball, T'Pring~?"

"Yes. Thank you ma'am. It is very kind of you."

"You don't have to say you like it if you don't, sweetheart!"

"I like it. I have always wanted a ball just like this. Thank you. You are very kind and beautiful miss Amanda. Spock is fortunate to have a mother like you. No matter what others may say, I believe that you are a good person."

T'Pring is then shown contemplating the ball and thinking "I have succeeded at being charming and obedient" while Amanda, looking disturbed, thinks "WTF is wrong with that kid??"

I wrote a fic awhile ago where T'Pring mentioned her parents not allowing her to have sweets as a child so here's some happy[ish] T'Pring art! She can eat whatever she wants as an adult!

Adult T'Pring eats a slice of cake while looking at a child version of herself. The child stares at the cake with a pained, nervous expression.

T'Pring tells the child version of her "It is alright."
The child takes a tentative bite then perks up as she chews, relishing the taste.
