Went canoeing on a pond in Massachusetts surrounded by trees with leaves changing color, and dotted with lillypads ALSO CHANGING COLOR!!! The water was so still that it perfectly reflected the big white fluffy clouds in the sky. Like drifting into a painting.

I saw a little bug on the table. I touched it and it stopped moving for a while so I thought it was dead. I took the opportunity to see it using a small microscope and took some photos, but then it started moving while I was looking AND I JUMPED. Bugs bring me a mix of fascination and horror.

It's still Indoor Plant Week! Since it's not specifically *houseplant* week - let's look at something else from our house: a blueberry! We can see cells that make up the juicy bit, and colorful cells of the skin. But what's that mysterious bright purple? It was in a few spots... #ScienceHoliday

Lots of small dark red cells tightly packed next to one another. The look a bit like dark sand spread in a thin layer.

Similar to before, dark cells, though a bit more zoomed out, and this time there's a roughly circular patch that's just glowing magenta and purple. It's unclear why that region is different.

A rubromarginate Mycena, meaning a Mycena mushroom with red margined gills. Quite plausibly Mycena rubromarginata, I won't know if it's that or a lookalike until I do microscopy. A few microns in spore size could be the differentiator by the looks of it.
