Went canoeing on a pond in Massachusetts surrounded by trees with leaves changing color, and dotted with lillypads ALSO CHANGING COLOR!!! The water was so still that it perfectly reflected the big white fluffy clouds in the sky. Like drifting into a painting.

One of my favorite things to do around here in the fall! I love paddling out to an island and setting up a hammock under some pines and reading a book or catching up on some podcasts or just swinging back and forth until I have to return to civilization. Friggin love fall in Mass!

Panic buying like a thing is about to more restricted overnight. A lot more people own ARs than they did before 8/24. And we haven't seen an increase/decrease in gun violence in Mass. Like I said people with money can get one ez pz so this also disproportionately affects minorities. Again for what?

It also had a nasty effect of bringing in SIGNIFICANTLY more assault rifles into the state because people panic bought so it kind of had an opposite result to what it was trying to do. And if you're rich enough you can still get a pre-ban AR the same day. So what exactly is the point of this?

What I'm saying is this is a poor law that doesn't make any kid safer that also has a carve out for cops, current or past. A population that actually has a significantly higher rate of violence and crime than average. Mass had effective gun laws, this did nothing but make things more convoluted.

I don't disagree but this law did not make anybody safer by any measurable metric, punishes a group of lawful gun owners that statistically do not commit gun crimes in a very gun safe state while also giving an exemption to cops. It's not a good law and repealing it wouldn't get rid of all gun laws.

Some early fall foliage in Massachusetts earlier today! From this perspective, cars look small as they slowly navigate down the winding New England road like fallen leaves floating down a lulled river. You can smell the burning oil in the air. This feels nice. This feels like home. #autumn #calm

A handsome spike I saw up close in the woods earlier today! What a handsome lil guy! #deer #massachusetts #nature #animal #cute
A shot of an alert young deer with two spikes on his head in Massachusetts woods looking straight at the camera. He is probably about 1-2 years old and his coat is very gray for a white tail deer.A side profile of the buck ready to run away. He looks almost like a donkey from this angle.A blurry shot of the buck running away with a clear shot of his hind legs and butt, confirming that he is in fact a white tail deer. It's always sunny meme of mac inside the italian restaurant looking one way and the deer on the panel below looking back.

Amanita muscaria 🍄 Read some facts in the description ALT ⬇️ #Fungi #fungifriends #ColorADay #RedWed #AlphabetChallenge #WeekLforLookingIn #Photography #forest #nature #Mushrooms #MushroomMonday #FungiFriday #ForestFriday
The photograph shows the fly agaric (*Amanita muscaria*)—one of the most recognizable poisonous mushrooms—in its natural habitat.

Biology and forest relationships:
The white dots are a covering; the white speckles on the cap are not part of its natural coloration but remnants of the so-called "partial veil"—a protective sheath in which the young mushroom sits, much like an egg. As the mushroom grows, this "shell" ruptures, leaving warty flakes on the surface. With age or after heavy rain, these spots may wash off completely.
A forest helper: The fly agaric forms a close mycorrhizal relationship (symbiosis) with the roots of trees such as pine, spruce, and birch. The fungal network supplies the trees with extra moisture and nitrogen, helping the forest grow faster and stay healthier.
Animals and toxicity:
A forest treat: While the fly agaric is poisonous to humans, forest animals—such as moose, deer, bears, and squirrels—regularly consume it. Animals use micro-doses of the mushroom to rid themselves of parasites and as a medicinal remedy.

Black-and-white photo and a shiny black cat lying on its side. There’s motion blur around its head and forepaws as it is clearly biting and chewing on a folder or stack of papers in its grip.

Sudbury River from Sherman's Bridge on a cool early New England autumn evening. Love riding my motorcycle during the fall, this is so lovely! But who's leaving bird (Turkey?) legs here? Witches? In Massachusetts? This time of year? #sunset #nature
A beautiful fall sunset over the Sudbury river in Massachusetts. Fall colors are only starting to emerge with whists of clouds painting the blue yellow sky with white and gray brush strokes. View from under Sherman's Bridge with the sunset reflecting from the river surface. Another view of the river. It is calm bit birds and local critters are singing their evening songs. There is a bass that breached the surface eating some sort of top surface bug, crickets and a woodpecker in the distance. Three fresh turkey feet seemingly cut off right by the boat ramp. It is not turkey season yet, is someone poaching?
