A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes
A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."
3. "I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening"

You know, it IS kind of amazing that whenever there's an insane tech bubble, someone uses that leverage to buy Warner Bros

Unlike, I guess, most people, Fall is not my favorite season, and so this is genuinely why I love living in northern California because while everyone else is posting about leaves falling or whatever, NorCal just handed us another 2 weeks of pool weather, as treat. I'll take it!

I think it’s fun that all of the core id guys are now normal charming dorky dad types (Romero, Hall, Adrian Carmack) or ontologically evil freaks (John Carmack, Sandy) with American McGee, an ardent libertarian that now lives on a boat and makes plushies, somehow straddling the line.

you will encounter more opportunities in life to change the batteries on a smoke alarm than you will to run into a burning building and no one gives a shit you changed those batteries but it is still very important and why are you waiting on a burning building, know what i’m saying, it’s a metaphor

I think the best precedent for SNW’s rep is the Peter Capaldi run on Doctor Who, which got a similar mixed reaction on the social web and mediocre ratings when it was on but now nearly everyone (correctly) treats it as the high-water mark for the 21st century version of the show

(I’m less clear on what the long-term view of Disco and Picard will be, less due to “quality” than the fact that both are at least three different shows in a trenchcoat, any recommendation of those is always going to come with a page of footnotes)

In general I think the whole streaming era is going to age well; the kids are not going to believe that SNW, Academy, Lower Decks, and Prodigy were all on at basically the same time and that the reaction was anything less than dancing in the street

With Star Trek’s streaming era nearly complete, I’m calling my shot: I think 10 years from now, the consensus will be that Strange New Worlds is one of the “Great Treks,” up there with TOS, TNG, DS9, and LDS

It continues to be interesting to me just how many men, when presented with a clear and obvious answer to a test of morality and empathy, will nevertheless choose to "devil's advocate" themselves into a position of complete assholery

Hi, new fan and community member here! :) Quick question: why did the artist make what they wanted to make instead of what I wanted? I understand they enjoyed making it, and that you all enjoy it too, but I just think they made a huge mistake not making my thing instead. Thanks!

I don't feel like I learned a lot about TV from that NYT list, but boy oh boy do I feel like I learned a lot about The Exact Type of Guy who wrote that list. Trying to imagine someone who genuinely has that as their top 10 shows and picturing the most insufferable human who has ever lived

Jim Henson would have been 90 (yup, you read that right: NINETY) years old today. You can celebrate his life by celebrating creativity, diversity, peace, imagination, and silliness.
A tuxedoed Jim Henson sits in a sea of Muppets.

I don't know how to explain it, but orcs aren't real. Obviously, I don't believe in goblins and elves, but I REALLY don't believe in orcs. They're just something that was invented by a famous fantasy writer, like transphobia.

It’s very simple. A reality TV host became dictator because he turned down a role for Sharknado 4 and that’s why the king of outer space, who cheats at Diablo, got to kill Africa. Now the economy is controlled by a sex cult that has something to do with Harry Potter fanfic because of robots.

The problem is that "while you weren't looking the tech industry was comprehensively taken over by a cult based around a piece of Harry Potter fanfic" is self-evidently an absolutely ridiculous claim that can't possibly have happened, which is a real problem given that it 100% did happen.
