And that's movie 5/5 for National Cinema Weekend: The end of oak street. Fun and I enjoyed a fair bit, but I also laughed out loud at how dumb the movie was on several occasions, and that ending was some supreme nonsense. Still enjoyable, but a real step down from the rest.

Movie 4/5 for National Cinema Weekend: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Leans too heavily on the wider MCU. Still, it's the best Marvel movie since... Well the last Spiderman. Obvs incredible cast, but REDACTED is a real standout. Bring on the dinosaurs for the final film.

Movie 3/5 for National cinema weekend: Obsession. I thought after Backrooms and Exit 8 that I was a big horror boy now, but this put me in my place. Brilliantly acted, shot, scored, scripted. Everything. Loved it, but also hated it. Thoroughly spooked. Spiderman should be easier viewing tomorrow.

Movie 2/5 of national cinema weekend: One Night Only A weirdly high concept rom com where premarital sex is banned, except for one night a year. Basically the purge for fucking. Really fun, great pacing, two terrific leads with great chemistry. Also surprise Levar Burton. Definitely a recommended.

Movie 1/5 in my National Cinema Weekend extravaganza. The Odyssey aka "and then they all ran back to the boat screaming". As excellent as everyone says it is. Cast, score, practical effects - all incredible. Fantastic start. Next up, One Night Only.

A movie that starts weird, and then stops messing around and gets really god damn weird in the back half. Brilliant send-up of slasher flicks and a fantastic look inwards at their puritanical undercurrent. Both leads were incredible. Also, forget the nudity; that fried chicken scene was pure filth
