one thing you learn from making a lot of things is that the nitty gritty details, the millions of tiny invisible decisions, ARE the art. The "higher level ideas" are not nearly as important or interesting

One underappreciated aspect of slow development is that it acts as a natural filter. Mari never made Space Corridor previously, because it did not, in fact, need to be made. It might have been a good personal exercise for learning, but now Mari will learn nothing from it.

This is about game writing but is true of all writing. Screenwriters are better the more they understand filmmaking. Audio fiction writers should understand some sound recording and editing. Etc. Knowing how the thing is made gives you the ability to write toward that process

There are so many people, so many, that love film and want to dedicate their whole lives to making films, in front of the camera, behind it, in editing suites and casting rooms and makeup trailers. And that these locusts can come in and just devour the industry, take it from us all, is devastating.

From the US Mint dot gov FAQ: I guess it's fine?

Questions about uncut currency sheets

Why are the serial numbers on my uncut currency sheet not in order?

The notes on uncut currency sheets are all printed from a single plate. The serial numbers have a relationship to the position of each note in the grid. Because of this, the serial numbers do not proceed in exact sequence as you look at the bills in rows or columns.

Why is the $5 note not available as uncut currency?

The new Series 2021 $5 notes are now in circulation. BEP is preparing to offer the Series 2021 $5 uncut currency sheets in late 2023 / early 2024.

Is uncut currency legal tender?

Yes. The individual notes on uncut currency sheets are legal tender.

Can I cut uncut currency sheets? What happens if the notes on my sheet were cut apart?

Because the individual notes on uncut currency sheets are legal tender, they may be cut apart and spent. Were you to do this, they would only be valued at their face value, even though you would have paid more than their cumulative value for the uncut currency sheet.

You can buy ten dollars for thirteen dollars, or eighty dollars for a hundred. It seems like not a great deal? Especially since it's still unclear what you can actually do with them?

You can apparently just buy them directly from the us mint now, but I guess in the current climate that doesn't really answer any questions about the legality www.usmint.gov/paper-curren...

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

If it works, that's pretty cool; I didn't think
would ever see this implemented (I also didn't
expect LLMs to exist).
However, this is not something you can PR
here, or anywhere. You sent me a nearly 50k
line diff, unasked for, completely LLM built, and
you somehow expect me to review it. There is
SO MUCH unrelated garbage here. Never
minding all of the docs and Python, you've
somehow touched basically all of the upstream
HDL, which already had MSU1 support, so idk
what in the world you're doing.
This kind of behavior is not acceptable. You are
infringing on the time and brainpower of people
by pushing "your" content that little/no of your
brainpower went into; completely unrequested.
I hope for the sake of all responsible
maintainers that you do not do such a thing
again.
Again, I think it's cool that you and your LLM
supposedly got this to work. It has no place in
my world.

Get a CD Player

It might seem that owning a CD player is the obvious first step to collecting CDs. But according to Luminate’s report, only half of millennials and Gen-Zers that collect CDs have a player. Luckily, finding a good CD player is easier and more budget-friendly than buying a record player.

We need to rephrase the whole discussion in terms of hazardous products, instead of "minds". And then we need to make sure that there's liability. A model hacks someone? Put a C-suite guy in jail. A model produces sexual harassment material? Put a C-suite guy in jail. Watch how fast things get safe

Don't let copaganda fool you — police violence is not tied to their safety. In 2025, the vast majority of killings began with police responding to suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported.
Screenshot of chart showing how police killings in 2025 began. 680 were suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported. 112 were traffic violations. 84 were unknown.

I am going through Bram Stoker’s earliest notes on DRACULA today - they include a list of the powers and features of the Count (then named “Wampyr” before Stoker stumbled on “Dracula”), many of which are never elucidated in the book…
• panters cannot pant hım; looks like someone else (38b)
• insensitive to music (38b)
• despises death and the dead (38b)
. is affected only by relics that are older than he is (38b)
• can create evil thoughts in others, banish good ones, and destroy will (38b)
• cannot be photographed; photographs come out black or like a skeleton corpse (4, 38b)
• can tell if bodies are dead or alive (4)
• sees man semingly dead and says "no" (4)
• has to be brought or carried over threshold. Dracula visits an asylum where he stumbles on the threshold (4, 16)
• named "Count Wampyr" (1)
• can determine and prove if people are sane (24)
