Genuinely: this is pointless unless you're a constituent and his team should, rightly, hit delete immediately or simply tell you to email your MP. Do email your MP tho - particularly if theyre Labour

Brought Into, Not Built: On the Kingdom of God — theodramatist
Are Christians called to build the Kingdom of God? The catechism's grammar says otherwise — and neither Social Gospel nor quietism gets the last word.

The real problem with MPs is that our legisature is incredibly weak compared to the executive so their ability to affect policy is v limited. But that's not a punchy slogan...

Perhaps an unpopular take, but I hate it when MPs are described as out of touch. They meet a greater variety of different people than 99% of the population, often in order to hear their complaints. They think far harder about issues than ordinary voters do.

Not the main point here, I grant you—and it’s a good article—but “typically they are often” is an unforgivably bad piece of writing!

It just seems to be a fixed feature of media culture that newsdesks + subs can do "protests anticipated" & "protests continue/swell" but will never put "protests shrink" even when they do So there is a chasm between the framing/headlines & the live reporting of smaller protests than before

Because the Lord is not interested in, has never been interested in, was born, died, and was crucified without any interest in "basic common sense." "Basic common sense" is our fetish, not His. He came to heal the sick and wake up the dead.

When our theology and politics as Christians are completely preoccupied with how other people might be sinning rather than focusing on how our own sin contributes to the current problems of our world, that is when we know our religion is about control rather than redemption.
