On this day in Canadian parliamentary history - October 8, 1957: Some 2,000 flags and 10,000 yards of bunting go up in advance of Her Majesty's visit to Ottawa. The B&W photo ran in newspapers - the colourisation is computer-generated.

Today in Canadian parliamentary history takes us back to 1917. During the War, the Parliament was extended (lasting over 5 months and 10 days). October 7th was to be the last possible day per Canada’s request to the UK (which needed to amend the constitution for the extension).

On this day in Canadian parliamentary history - September 25, 2018: An f-bomb in the Commons.
Why does the Prime Minister not just say the truth and tell
indigenous peoples that he does not give a fuck about their rights?
Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
The Speaker: The hon. member for Abitibi--Baie-James-
Nunavik-Eeyou is an experienced member and knows that is
unparliamentary language. I would ask him to withdraw the word
and apologize.
[Translation]
Mr. Romeo Saganash: Mr. Speaker, what is going on right now
is so insulting that it is making my blood boil. I am sorry. I withdraw
that word. I am truly sorry.
The Speaker: I sincerely thank the hon. member.
