How did I get dragged around camping throughout western Utah so much as a child just to have never stayed at the salt flats.

It is maddening to be of the opinion that we are not really any closer to having developed AI then we were when we first inscribed a circuit on a silicon chip. It's a fundamental category error, you cannot make a car so fast it becomes a cake. We know how computers work, they are not brains.

**Lights Out Alert Sunday & Monday Nights** Birdcast is estimating 300-400 million birds will be in flight.
From meteorologist Eric Snitil

**Lights Out Alert Sunday & Monday Nights**

"Heads up birders, I would not be surprised if the biggest bird migration night of the year happens over the next 2 nights. Birdcast is estimating 300-400 million birds will be in flight. That is a lot, but the pattern could not be better for migratory birds. A massive area of high pressure will turn the low level winds from the northeast to the southwest across most of the US. The last time we had anything similar to this in the fall was early October last year when a record 1.25 billion birds were in flight. I doubt we get to that level, but I suspect the number will top 500 million especially Monday night which looks to be the bigger of the two nights. You can help by turning off those outdoor lights on big migration nights, and the next 2 nights is about as big as it gets."

I did not realize that so many of my issues (dysautonomia, GI issues, maybe the anxiety, etc) that haven’t had an underlying cause found were all likely related to my Hypermobility. Hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) is a real son of a bitch.

We obtained Trump’s confidential drug pricing deals with Pfizer & Lilly via FOIA litigation. The texts are heavily redacted, making it impossible to verify some of Trump's claims. But unredacted text shows Trump exaggerated his drug pricing achievements, which expire anyway at the end of his term.

Some drugmakers say they will stop selling new drugs to key countries, in order to keep the most-favored nation price high in the United States. That could mean patients with no route to access. Here, HHS appears to bless that deadly practice:

As Fozzie stood at the top step, he felt two tiny, webbed hands shove him from behind. He found himself cartwheeling through empty space, landing squarely on his back with a loud crack. As his vision dimmed, he heard a small, throaty voice from above. "Wokka wokka, motherfucker."

A large group of medieval knights ride in formation on horseback through an open field. The leader of the pack warns the group of a log in their path as his horse jumps over the obstacle. “Log,” he yells. This starts a chain of “logs” as each rider yells “log” so everyone is aware of the log. Their strong communication and teamwork likely results in all of the riders avoiding the log safely. Artist’s note: simple yet sloppy line work and elite composition make this piece a core work in pants art history.

a show flyer listing Tinglez, Boustrophedon, Richard E, and myself performing at a benefit show for Historical Monument 157 in Los Angeles, the flyer also includes a picture of the venue itself, a late 19th century residence in Lincoln Heights, merged in collage with fantasy and surreal elements like a dragon and large eyeball.

LLMs cease to be useful when they can't be used to scam people into unknowingly reading slop anymore. When the typewriter was invented, no one had to pretend its output was handwritten to get people to accept it. Typing had its own utility. LLMs are scamtech that have no utility outside the scam.

Incredible how these patent applications capture the alienation these glasses surely cause
Fig 5c from Meta’s facial recognition patent. It shows a man viewing a party as if on a movie screen, the glasses highlight everyone else having fun.

The man’s posture is neutral, but expectant. His left arm barely reaching toward the others. He is wearing Meta smart glasses. No one else at the party is wearing Meta smart glasses. He hesitates to join the fun.

He’s at the party, but somehow alienated from it. I’ve added text above his head: “They don’t know I work at Meta.”

damn I did not know that! The rescue where we got Lola and Willie sometimes has sphynx and the woman who runs the rescue (and has adopted some herself—she says people call them “skinfants” bc they’re so cuddly and needy) says they are a nightmare and that breeding them should be illegal
YES THEY ARE CUTE BUT....
When we were at the Milwaukee Pet Expo this past weekend I had more inquiries about Sphynx than I can ever remember. Which is scary because that means they are becoming more popular...which is even more scary because most of the folks I spoke with knew nothing about them. So here we go with the Public Service Announcement.
IF YOU OR FOLKS YOU KNOW DESPERATELY WANT A SPHYNX, DID YOU KNOW:
1). That over 80% (probably more) will develop heart problems, specifically fatal enlargement of the heart (cardiomyopathy)? And heart scanning the parents means little. My gorgeous boy here had both parents scan negative and he will eventually die of cardiomyopathy anyway.
2). Do you have the Deep Pockets necessary to build a new wing on to your vet's office because of your cat's genetic issues? If no, consider a lovely furred domestic.
3). THEY DO NOT HELP WITH ALLERGIES. NO BREED DOES.
4). They do NOT need to be washed weekly...and if you overwash them you will cause more skin problems (to which they are prone anyway).
5). Striking a balance between washing and not washing is not easy (high quality expensive food makes a huge difference) and regardless they will probably influence your purchase choices of bedding and furniture because just their laying on stuff can leave grease marks on light colors.
6). Their ears need to be cleaned constantly.
Like...constantly.6). We have seen cats with terrible eye, Gi, skin and ear problems over the years. Mostly because a lot of backyard breeders have no idea what they are doing and simply slap cats together. They can get $1500 a cat and have no obligation once it leaves. People are lined up with no idea what they are getting.
Again...Deep Pockets.
There is a lot more I can add to this but here are the highlights. Please read, pass on to friends, etc. Also, join FB pages like Sphynx Health if you really want to see some suffering cats and owners and decide if you want to potentially be part of that. Of course I adore my 3 and they have wonderful personalities, but I also knew exactly what I was getting into and live that life accordingly.

oh no it actually makes perfect sense
"The unborn" are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don't resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don't ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don't need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don't bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It's almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.

Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.

Scapegoats are emotionally cheaper than systems. Blaming the left asks nothing of you. It feels good and righteous and right. Asking whether your institutions and your party failed you requires dismantling beliefs you have spent your lifetime building. That is emotionally expensive.

Screenshot of an old tweet of mine from 4/18/25:

Some of y'all forget the reason we have food safety regulations is because companies used to do things like adding chalk to spoiled milk so it looked normal.

Regulations don't exist because governments enjoy them. They exist because pure unadulterated capitalism would kill us.
