Thinkin about the time I was on MediCal trying to get referrals from my *assigned* primary care clinic and they told me I could only get one referral/appointment. Waits were like 6-8 weeks per appt. Nothing I needed help with could be done at that clinic. They just wanted maximum billing hours.

Kai Shaikh, a Ph.D. student in mathematics at the University of Toronto, also currently at SLMath, observed that theorems are easy to use as benchmarks, but that they capture little of the wonderment at the heart of math. Some of the escalations we're seeing, including the attack on Ilhan Omar's home (I will not pretend this act was "investigatory"), are desperate acts. But we must remember that desperate people can be very dangerous. A domestic abuse victim, for example, is in the most danger when trying to leave.
