I feel like I should already know the answer to this, BUT…just saw a picture of Superman with a beard. Does he shave every morning? Does he have to laser-vision his stubble?

What a surreal nightmare. Was sent a listing of my childhood home; a late victorian house that has been stripped of all of its original mouldings, wood and charm and replaced with soulless grey and white. To top it off, they used AI to "enhance" the photos. I am sad.

“Mooooom! Can you come into my room and get something out?! It’s something weird!” (Just rescued a tree cricket from 17yo’s ceiling. Started hopping in the container as soon as I stepped outside and could hear their chirpy brethren)

Stunner of a sunset, tonight. The garden is slowing down now that Fall has arrived.
A small backyard full of gardens surrounding a small pond ringed and flagstone and full of pond plants. The sky is covered in a fluffy blanket of purple and pink cloud with a fiery sunset, illuminating the garden in a pink light.

Straight up if these orcas die, I will never forgive this government. It’s genuinely devastating to contemplate — and make no mistake, the west coast pipeline and port expansion WILL kill them. We have to draw the line somewhere and these orcas deserve to have us fight for them.

"OWL RLY" Acrylic and paint marker on birch panel. My piece for the Hoot art show, part of the Ottawa International Animation Festival this year. It's up right now for another 2 days at Beyond the Pale Brewing in the Byward Market. Painting is also for sale! #art #owl #retrogaming
An acrylic painting of a snowy owl character playing an original game boy. Bright retro colours and an abstract background. Perhaps a resemblance to an ancient meme.

Heading out to the Post Office. Just threw my hat on and caught myself in the mirror before heading out the door. I think I have a cartoon character haircut?! What is happening?! Wings!
A woman looking puzzled at the camera. She is wearing a denim ball cap with a yellow smiley face on the front. Her French bob haircut, looks like it is curling up with exaggerated wings on both sides.

Walked past the sad shell of Toys R Us this afternoon. The property owner sold to a developer, so our local store had to close. It’s been sitting empty for months and months.
An empty Toys R Us. The letters were removed, but you can see the sun bleached the background blue material of the sign, so the store name is still legible.

keeping kids safe from infection should matter to you, thus the tools that achieve this—from vaccines to air cleaning tech—should also matter. if you care about vaccines, fight for them; in the meantime, mask up, open a window, & crank up those air purifiers—the virus doesn’t care about bureaucracy.

Went to check on the remaining tomatoes in the backyard this evening and was pretty surprised to see this guy.
Two green tomatoes on the top of a plant. A medium sized tomato horn worm is doing a poor job camouflaging on the stem. It is fleshy and the same green as the plant, but has “eye” decorations, evenly spaced down it’s body and a red “spine/horn” on the end of its body.

Quilt hanging on a card catalog. Neutral background with navy cursive appliqué “Do you hear thr people sing?” The background is embroidered in red starting light and getting bolder the lyrics to “killing in the name” the quilting effect is a focused sunburst from the center.

We watched ”Predator:Badlands” today, which I quite liked and I thought was perfect timing as it was Batman day. ?! The first “Predator” property I consumed was Batman vs Predator 3. (No, I hadn’t seen the film yet). So, in my brain Batman/Predator are inextricably linked.
Batman vs Predator3 4/4 comic cover. A Predator is crouched on the giant penny in the batcave,,a spear in one hand and Batman’s torn shirt with bat emblem in the other.

Watched a large raccoon cross the street ahead of us,tonight.Thought he was going to the community garden to pilfer some veg, but he squeezed into a storm drain, instead. When we got closer, we could see his little footprints. Wondering what’s going on down there. Raccoon FOMO.

The bottom of this mushroom almost seemed to be “glowing”bluish-white. It wasn’t, but the colour and the texture of it was deceptive. Nature is so cool.

Find you a friend who calls up and asks, “can you come visit and we’ll pack a lunch and wander around the old cemeteries and I’ll show you all of the places where everything happened.”
A vast, mossy cemetery ground, gradually leading up a hill. A woman in rubber boots and jeans, wearing a blue top is walking in the middle-ground. The old cemetery stones are far apart, dotting the landscape. A blue sky with skidding clouds touch the horizon. Bottom half of the photo is a yellow-green mossy ground, the lower half of the cemetery where the poor were buried. There are hardly any markers because they would have been made of wood in the 1800’s and have disappeared over time. In the middle of the picture is a swath of dark green forest with pine trees poking from the top. Above that a clear blue sky. A thundercloud rises from behind the forest like a cauliflower mountain.

How to visit an art museum with someone who isn't used to visiting art museums:
Two social media posts by @pan_juho (Translated from Japanese):

"I love going to art museums, but when I go with someone who's not used to them, if I say, 'If you were a great thief, tell me later which one you'd steal,' they end up looking the exhibits pretty seriously, and that makes me happy.

"Whether you steal something you like or something that seems valuable -> it opens up endless conversation based on what vou liked about it or where you saw value in it, so it's also great as an easy icebreaker for chats after visiting the museum."

Humaning.
A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

A photo from the City of Toronto Archives taking around 1908. Two men and a boy sitting at little table playing cards look up at the figure of a ghost — which you may or may not believe is actually a superimposed image of someone standing there under a sheet.

The thing about trying not to pick a side is that the nazis *instantly recognize* which side you picked. They immediately identify you as an ally. They know exactly what side you're on. It doesn't fool the victims, it doesn't fool the Nazis, the only people it could possibly fool is centrists.
