Wonderful to hear @hfxwordy.bsky.social read from her memoir today. “Remember, you are the best narrator of your life.” See, I wrote it down! Amazing strength and creativity, Michelle ❤️ congratulations!
Michelle stands behind a podium which is placed in front of a large abstract backdrop. On the front of the podium is a Defend Books poster.

To the side there is a red armchair and a poster of Michelle’s book cover for “A good girl’s guide to lying”.

And then when you are able to recognize what happened to you as assault & make the courageous attempt to reach out, it's brushed off as being overly emotional/having a "bad day" by the same ppl who love to sensationalize high profile cases in the news like some fucking true crime episode.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.

Campaign broadcast across France encourages people to come forward even if they have little to no memory of attack Gisèle Pelicot is the figurehead of a new campaign run by her daughter to encourage people who suspect they have been drugged and sexually assaulted to come forward, even if they have little to no memory of the attack. Today, over 4 millions Canadians will run. Nobody had to put it on a calendar. We all know what day it is. In April 1980 Terry Fox, a 21-year-old from Port Coquitlam, B.C., dipped his artificial leg into the Atlantic Ocean in St. John's and started running. #TerryFoxRun #TerryFox #MarathonOfHope

Make stuff. Do your hobbies. Geek out with your weird friends. Practice arts and crafts. Every society that ever burned to the ground left behind only the handicrafts, and every society saved from the brink was saved only by arts. Do not give up the joy of creating.

My book "A Good Girl's Guide to Lying: Losing My Memory, Searching for Truth, & Confronting Complex Trauma" has arrived! It explores how I lost my memories for 30 years, & how misogyny and gendered violence result in women having higher rates of trauma and lower access to treatment. #booksky

Today marks the Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval. It began in 1755 when Acadians were forcibly removed by the British from their homes in present-day Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and P.E.I. Between 1755 and 1763, about 10,000 Acadians were deported on crowded ships. Thousands died.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Lying went to press today! It'll be in the world on Sept 15th. Launching memoir feels so much more vulnerable than a novel. Will people judge me? Will they get what I’m saying about misogyny in our social institutions? Will it change how people think about trauma? 1/3
