I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

And let me just point out, Beshear is also Christian and also in a red state. He vetoed a bill that would have banned gender-affirming care & kept trans people out of public bathrooms while running for re-election and when questioned, simply responded that all children are children of God. So easy.

I read "Relinquished: The Politics of Adoption and the Privilege of American Motherhood" a few years ago. In it, the author asked various biological mothers what they would've needed to keep their baby and it was so precious little that it was devastating.

We spent some time yesterday with my 94-year-old mother-in-law who's in long-term care and probably near the end. At one point she looked me dead in the face and said, "Heather, let's get me outta here. You're the one." I'm going to take that as a compliment.

Also true! Data supports students with full-time librarians doing better academically, score better on assessment tests, and have more positive feelings about reading. But somehow that's literally the only data public education doesn't care about.

People ask me sometimes when and why I started pulling away from the evangelical Christianity I was raised on, and truthfully, it was a slow accumulation of many things. But the vicious post-9/11 anti-Muslim racism from people I knew and loved was one of the first steps for sure.

I mean just within this story, you get not only the substance of this observation from her, which is beautiful, but the very fact that when she read scripture, she wanted to truly understand it, to see how it made sense to her and was consistent with what she knew was right and sensible.
