You might think it's racist to melt down about the appearance of a black woman in a movie, but have you considered that progressives do a totally different thing?

one of the reasons i am always on about elite persuasion is that i have seen elite persuasion operate in real time. as toby documents here, the radical anti-trans push in the uk didn't come from some "bottom-up backlash," but was orchestrated and organized primarily at the most elite levels

she was SIXTEEN fucking years old. i never have words to give shape to the anger. every time someone’s “just asking questions” about bathrooms or sports or prison or healthcare or whatever abstract they suddenly think is a problem, there are individual trans people who pay for it. she was a CHILD.
"This stress of feeling alienated in her life was exacerbated by Jane's exclusion from the girls' restroom at school," her mother continued in the court record. "The option of a single-user restroom did not resolve her distress. Rather, it caused her to feel ostracized from others - 'like I'm being treated as this other kind of thing - as she described in her supplemental declaration."

This bill, literally called the “CHARLIE Act,” imports definitions from Trump's odious EOs on race (EO 14190) and sex (EO 14168) into the federal statute for K-12 funding. It's not savvy centrist politics, it will not get them more votes. They know; they're bad people who like these parts of MAGA.

After multiple winners of the 2026 Commonwealth Short Story Prize were accused of enlisting generative artificial intelligence to write for them, statements from the institutions involved just raised more questions, and the authors aren't talking. Are AI literary scandals the new plagiarism?

CORRECTION: I just deleted a post & updated a story that incorrectly said not one anti-LGBTQ+ measure in Missouri became law. One anti-trans measure did pass, tucked into an appropriations law, barring incarcerated trans people from receiving gender-affirming care. www.advocate.com/politics/sta...
advocate.com
Missouri Republicans introduced 58 anti-LGBTQ+ bills. One anti-trans measure became law
The legislative defeat comes as the ACLU tracks 529 anti-LGBTQ+ bills nationwide this year, many aimed at transgender Americans.

This is exactly the phenomenon I was discussing in my thread yesterday (will attach below). Even if you can show a video is faked with AI, some people just don’t care - as long as it supports what they want to believe.
But Prof van der Linden warned that research also suggests many people do not seem to care if content is AI-generated or not.
"As long as it resonates with their identity and world-view they will often still endorse the content and share it with others because it signals agreement with a larger agenda," he said.
As one commenter on the "Great British People" Facebook page put it: "It's probably AI but the fact is that he is right about everything".
