Fascinating documentary about a collector of kitsch objects, folk & vernacular art who carves his own cartoonish wooden sculptures & lives remotely in a museum of his own making. Equal parts charming & obnoxious, he reflects on his lifelong passion for collecting & creating youtu.be/Sqq5o0fErfY

Maisy has been banned from the chained Lower Library in Weychester Cathedral. She asked the librarian if the ghosts enjoyed ratting the chains and he said no. She called him a liar. A bit of a scene erupted. I backed the librarian which means I'm now on the shitlist. – #MattAdams

Absolute pure Flemish countryside. Two absolute monster motorways a km either side and if you're born here you'd consider yourself from a village, despite being a 10 minute walk from a tram that takes you to the 5th biggest city in Belgium in less than 20 minutes. Unbeatable. Nonsensical.

Goodness, QUEEN AT SEA (Lance Hammer, 2026) is good. The kind of British film that feels like a French film. Deeply emotional, I assume some people have been put off by its subject matter: Alzheimer’s. But more than anything it’s about love. Tom Courtenay, and Anna Calder-Marshall are remarkable.

I read a lot of Jeffrey Archer's novels when I was a kid & found them quite exciting. Mind you, I loved that sort of thing – Hornblower, the first six Tom Clancy novels, Douglas Reeman etc etc. Were they a guilty pleasure? No, I was 12/13. But I like how Sinclair writes about it all here:
