In about 1940 Adolfo Bioy Casares and Silvina Ocampo moved in to an apartment on Santa Fe and Ecuador. Their friend Jorge Luis Borges came for dinner. He came for dinner every night for about 20 years. After dinner, Borges and Bioy retired to Bioy's study and talked and wrote until the early hours.

Everything else aside this is the most total failure of sportswashing possible. The UAE have gone from "we're just normal men who like football like British people do" to "if we can't massively cheat at football we'll do as much financial damage to the UK as we can."

Name that tune
Background
The song was written by Diane Warren, who produced the song along with Guy Roche.[2] While the soft rock track was specifically written for Cher, the singer initially disliked the song upon hearing a demo and turned it down. Warren claimed in 1991: "I got on my knees and pleaded. I told her I wasn't going to leave the room until she said yes, and finally, just to get rid of me, she did."[3] In 2014, she further added: "She really hated [it], but I held her leg down during a session and said, 'You have to record it!'" According to Warren, Cher reportedly responded: "'Fuck you, bitch! You're hurting my leg! OK, I'll try it.' Once Cher sang it, she gave me this look like, 'You were right'."[4]

Fans of my unpublished novel 48 (all 5 of you) will be excited to hear I am going to attempt to write the novel that the novel 48 is about. Due to it's structure, it's 228,488 words long. Going to try to whip it out (steady) in a year.

Predictably, someone pointed out that one of the players here has a German name and assumed she is the descendant of Nazis. Claudia Kaiser is the descendant of German and Polish Jews who moved, like so many, to Argentine in the 30s. Some English people really are pricks.

“Spaghetti Night.” Pen and copic gray marker on paper.

Our man is in the kitchen making spaghetti for his guests, who have become increasingly rowdy as they wait for dinner. More on them in a moment. He speaks into his landline phone with his oven mitts on, “Everybody’s pretty riled up for spaghetti night.” He is correct because sure enough we see his riled up dinner guests in the background. Two men play wrestle as a woman raises her hand to spank one of the wrestler's cheeks. She’s got great leverage on the windup so those cheeks are about to be pummeled, reader. Another man finds himself being carried by a woman with a crew-cut. Her strength is on display here because despite the man’s weight she’s able to effortlessly run around the living room with him slung over her shoulder like a ragdoll. Behind them we see another spaghetti night guest pumping his fists and shouting to the ceiling. Perhaps howling.

Artist’s note: One of my favorite drawings. Love seeing the whole group having a great time together.
