It is kinda funny to me that most "reasonable centrist reforms" like Supreme Court term limits need constitutional amendments while making every woke college professor a supreme court justice is a simple 50% vote in the senate.

look, i think these people should just be honest and say that their kids are too dumb and lazy for their socioeconomic status to self replicate so they want to shrink the talent pool, (which wont work because it will also shrink the demand for talent)

Cannot be emphasised enough that Trump II will plausibly cause the kind of death count we associate with the worst dictatorships of the last century. Unspeakably bad that he came to be president of the world's most powerful nation.

Relatedly, I think Canada should pull the plug on sending the US oil for a week or two, as a reminder to voters exactly what the consequences of voting for a party that decides to explicitly undermine their sovereignty will be if they keep it up

I think there's something to this, yes. a kind of cope many of us, especially those from more vulnerable demographics, performed was attributing 2024 to the innate selfishness and indeed evil of Americans, particularly white Americans. and that may simply be overindexing on ideology.

I think it's bad for public discourse and the reputation of journalism that newsrooms continue to give people like Linehan fuzzy puff-pieces, while turning a blind eye to their abhorrent conduct online It is, if nothing else, a double-standard compared with how other public figures are treated

remember: it saved no net money, social services US citizens are getting cut, and left the US in a weaker place geopolitically. none of the debates about fiscal responsibility, obligation to US citizens first, or 'hard choices' actually apply. they're all bullshit. killed people for nothing at all.

We very badly need to marginalize these people and treat it the same as following Hanania or being a Tucker fan, and we equally as badly need to have a position on owners of the tech that spreads this shit (social media) bribing the pedophile president so they wouldn't be held accountable for it.

These ads go in the same category as brazen, easily disproven lies after ICE killings. It’s not about persuasion. It’s a display of power. They could have passed them off as PAC-funded. They added “paid for by the U.S. government” because they want us to know they can break the law with impunity.

I mean like, I think that this is a good question to ask? For example, the unilateral pardon is one of the stupidest ideas in human history. Checks and balances should exist, but they should be a low bar to pass, so that extreme stuff can be filtered out while allowing for decisions to be made

Democrats do not only need to "go all in" on higher education. The party needs a genuine reset on its understanding of it. The last three Democratic administrations contributed to creating the crisis that higher ed is facing today.
