I gotta say the Cornell case has really been leaving me sick and burned out And I kind of don’t vibe with a lot of the men posting about it in a “gasp - I can’t believe this” way I can believe it. It’s like a normal thing to happen. It’s the reality that we’ve had to live in this whole time

And for those of us with GRCs, we’re between a rock and a hard place: we’re no longer our gender in the EA, but still our gender in the GRA. If I were to marry, I’d be legally female at the ceremony, but when I needed the toilet at the reception, I’d be legally expected to use the men’s.

One of the most pernicious cissexual myths is that **trans ppl** are obsessed w gender when the average cis woman would never think of wearing a bow tie and the average cis man gets angry if he has to drink out of a coffee cup w too many dainty flowers glazed on it.

One of the first things you learn about trans competent primary care is how many of us routinely develop PVD, UTIs, and kidney stones from avoiding or not having access to bathrooms. As a fun bonus, the disinfo machine then uses this high prevalence to make mendacious claims about HRT.

The damning thing here, really, is using AI to select which submissions to pay attention to. (And okay, that may well be just rebranding of old ML stuff, but who knows.) A random sample would be just about defensible. A selected sample is absolutely not.

This country is so deeply… cursed. I have incredibly mixed feelings about digital credentials and the slippery slope of “well now it’s easy to require strong guarantees”, but in a country where so many sites now ask for photos of identity documents via unknown third parties, it doesn’t feel so bad…

There's a real attentional trap that all protest movements face and have faced for a long time. If you pull off protests that are polite and civil, even if large, they will struggle to get coverage. Reporters will dismiss them as not newsworthy.

The problem has never been ID cards — it’s everything bundled with it, every time it’s been proposed. The UK heavily relies on various ID documents (driving licenses and passports primarily), and leaves those without having to surpass a higher bar for various services.

This is, to be clear, completely unworkable and almost certainly illegal. It’s also outright hilarious because all UK birth certificates explicitly note that they are _not_ identity documents — they’re a record of birth, and publicly available. Plus, how many people even have a copy of their own?
