I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

MATTIE: HEY, WHAT'S THAT?!
SUIT: OH, THE ECONOMY CUBE?! IT DOESN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING! BUT WE NEED THEM. EVERYWHERE! OR ELSE!

PANEL 2: A cleaner shot of the cube, heat haze emanating off of it. Many more dot the horizon behind it. MATTIE and the SUIT frame the panel.
MATTIE: THEY'RE QUITE LOUD! AND HOT!
SUIT: OH, VERY. MANY BIRDS WILL DIE!

PANEL 3: MATTIE, looking at the SUIT.
SUIT: WITHOUT THEM, THE WORLD ECONOMY COLLAPSES! DON'T YOU WANT TO BUY STUFF.
MATTIE: I WAS BUYING STUFF LAST YEAR NO PROBLEM WITHOUT THOSE THINGS. WHAT HAPPENED?

PANEL 4: The SUIT points at MATTIE. Two other PEOPLE IN SUITS creep in, brandishing weapons.
SUIT: WELL I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING…
SUIT: SHE HATES THE CUBE, GUYS!

I'm so excited about this project! "Will-o'-the-Wisp" is a graphic novel I'm writing and drawing. You can read the first half here: brianrwilliams.com/will-o-the-w... Consider joining my Patreon to support the project and get access to new chapters as I finish them! www.patreon.com/c/greygraphite
Title page for my graphic-novel-in-progress. The title text, "Will-o'-the-Wisp," glows green above the illustration. Leona (the mountain lion), Argyle (the extraterrestrial), Orick (the Sasquatch) and Ursula (the human person) leading the group with a flashlight, walk down a set of stairs in a cave lit by purple light.

"Will-o'-the-Wisp" is about a spooky light Ursula sees in the woods outside her trailer one night. She and Orick, Argyle, and Leona set out to discover the truth about the ghost light. But they're not alone; malevolent Sasquatches called wood devils are also hunting the Will-o'-the-Wisp. Ursula and her friends must catch up to the light before the wood devils do.

The first half of the novel is free to read here: https://brianrwilliams.com/will-o-the-wisp.html

“3 AM”
giclée art print

It’s 3 AM in suburbia and someone is still awake. A silhouetted cat sits on a windowsill behind open blinds peering out at a mysterious nighttime world. This is her favourite post in the house. From here she can look out over the expansive lawn and clipped hedges. Her humans have long since gone to bed. There is streetlight shinning on the house, hedges and lawn. She’s hoping to see something - anything - move about in the shadows. She listens intently for any rustle in the leaves, snap of a twig, or scampering over the grass. For now, all is silent except for the faint rush of a passing car. The night belongs to her.

I've drawn this in ballpoint pen in a very fine, wispy cross-hatching style trying to achieve that vague, mysterious tonality seen at that hour. I take a lot of walks late at night, and this is a home l've passed several times, complete with the lit window. I always imagine a cat sitting there, and the beauty is that I can make it so.

This is a companion piece of sorts with “The Yearning for Adventure”, also available in my Etsy shop.

A graphite and colored pencil drawing on paper of a yellow and green seahorse perched on the couch from the painting, "Portrait of Madame Récamier," bt Jacques-Louis David.A drawing of a woodpecker peeking out from a hole in a tree, which is emerging from the torso of a woman wearing an elaborately-decorated dress and ruff from the Renaissance.A graphite drawing of a woman from a Neoclassical painting, wearing a wig and draped in a shawl, sitting beside a rural landscape showing a river valley. Above the river floats a Mothman-like spirit with glowing eyes.A drawing of Krampus, dragging chains shackled to his wrists and carrying a satchel of twigs on his back, entering the foyer of a fancy house. He looks down the hallway at the viewer, letting his long tongue hang from his open mouth.

The only moving thing
Was the eye of the blackbird.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 5: Gruss vom Krampus! Krampus celebrations were banned in the 1930s by the Nazis in Germany and the fascist Christian government in Austria. Therefore, it's canon that Krampus is an anti-fascist symbol. Graphite and charcoal powder on paper.
Krampus, a furry anthropomorphic creature with a goat's head, long tongue, one cloven hoof, with a satchel of birch branches on his back and iron chains hanging from his arms, stares at the viewer from a hallway. The hallway is elegant, with an arched colonnade and paintings on the wall in the background, implying that Krampus is visiting the home of a wealthy family.

The iridescence and textures of the bird's feathers is emphasized. On the tree limb beside the bird are pebbles, a quartz crystal and a shell, all with iridescent surfaces.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 2. Still one of my favorite projects: illustrating "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird," by Wallace Stevens.
V
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.

Stanza V from "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird," written by Wallace Stevens. A digital illustration showing a red-winged blackbird perched on a twig next to a muddy pond at twilight. The blackbird is calling. Next to it is an old stone with a spiral pattern carved into it. The scene's reflection on the surface of the pond appears to show a moment in the near future: the stone is glowing and the blackbird is flying away.
