An image I found on r/wizardposting showing a first person shot of a hand(that appears to belong to a wizard) flipping off a skeleton who is flipping the wizard off too. It is a night scene and the skeleton has light coming from it's eyes and mouth.

Gen AI is a backwards-facing technology. It can only mimic what’s already been created, and it spits out an average of its stolen dataset, so you’re gonna get boring generic slop like this instead of something designed with intent

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Hi, I'm Brian, and here's my digital portfolio for #portfolioday, which comprises mostly of my webcomic "Orick & Argyle," about a Sasquatch and an extraterrestrial who team up to commit acts of civil disobedience in defense of nature. orickandargyle.com www.patreon.com/greygraphite
A digital drawing of comic book characters Orick, a Sasquatch; Leona, a mountain lion; and Argyle, an extraterrestrial, rowing across a pond at dusk toward an island with an old church on it.A black and white digital drawing of comic characters Ursula, a human person; Orick, a Sasquatch; Argyle, an extraterrestrial; and Leona, a mountain lion, walking down a set of underground stairs in a cave-like environment. Ursula leads the group with a flashlight.A digital painting of Orick, a Sasquatch wearing an orange scarf and carrying a hot drink of some kind, walking between some trees and saying "boo" to classic movie monsters Nosferatu, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and a werewolf, who cower in fear and run away.A digital illustration showing a Sasquatch reading a book in his cave with his friends, a mountain lion asleep next to the fireplace, and an extraterrestrial laying on a rug watching The X-Files on an iPad. The cave is illuminated by the fire in the fireplace, candles, lamps and glowing crystals. Above the fireplace is a framed portrait of a Sasquatch ancestor. In the background is a bookshelf and a staircase.

You’re reinforcing a conservative definition of masculinity by accusing conservatives of being secretly gay. “You’re not real men either because a bunch of you are on Grindr.”

PANEL 1: MATTIE is talking to a MAN IN A SUIT. Behind them is a huge grey cube. Both are yelling the whole time.
MATTIE: HEY, WHAT'S THAT?!
SUIT: OH, THE ECONOMY CUBE?! IT DOESN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING! BUT WE NEED THEM. EVERYWHERE! OR ELSE!

PANEL 2: A cleaner shot of the cube, heat haze emanating off of it. Many more dot the horizon behind it. MATTIE and the SUIT frame the panel.
MATTIE: THEY'RE QUITE LOUD! AND HOT!
SUIT: OH, VERY. MANY BIRDS WILL DIE!

PANEL 3: MATTIE, looking at the SUIT.
SUIT: WITHOUT THEM, THE WORLD ECONOMY COLLAPSES! DON'T YOU WANT TO BUY STUFF.
MATTIE: I WAS BUYING STUFF LAST YEAR NO PROBLEM WITHOUT THOSE THINGS. WHAT HAPPENED?

PANEL 4: The SUIT points at MATTIE. Two other PEOPLE IN SUITS creep in, brandishing weapons.
SUIT: WELL I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING…
SUIT: SHE HATES THE CUBE, GUYS!
SUIT 2: UHHHHH DON'T YOU LIKE SHOPPING?
SUIT 3: PUT HER IN A CUBE!

Copyright law recognizes fair use, and education is fair use. A student can use someone else's intellectual property for educational purposes. But a student can't copy someone else's art, sign their own name on it, sell it or lead others to believe it's their original work. That's still plagiarism.

High quality plagiarism is still plagiarism. If you're prompting AI to spit out slop and it happens to end up looking really good, that means your AI used a whole bunch of art created by a whole bunch of really good human artists.

I'm so excited about this project! "Will-o'-the-Wisp" is a graphic novel I'm writing and drawing. You can read the first half here: brianrwilliams.com/will-o-the-w... Consider joining my Patreon to support the project and get access to new chapters as I finish them! www.patreon.com/c/greygraphite
Title page for my graphic-novel-in-progress. The title text, "Will-o'-the-Wisp," glows green above the illustration. Leona (the mountain lion), Argyle (the extraterrestrial), Orick (the Sasquatch) and Ursula (the human person) leading the group with a flashlight, walk down a set of stairs in a cave lit by purple light.

"Will-o'-the-Wisp" is about a spooky light Ursula sees in the woods outside her trailer one night. She and Orick, Argyle, and Leona set out to discover the truth about the ghost light. But they're not alone; malevolent Sasquatches called wood devils are also hunting the Will-o'-the-Wisp. Ursula and her friends must catch up to the light before the wood devils do.

The first half of the novel is free to read here: https://brianrwilliams.com/will-o-the-wisp.html

Poster titled, "Creature From Somewhere in the Midwest," a spoof on movie posters for Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Under the poster title text, a green, friendly-looking creature with gills, a pink snout, two arms, and six human feet is smiling and saying, Midwesternly, "Ope! Lemme just scootch past yah." He is holding a red plastic party cup and is wearing a yellow novelty t-shirt that reads, "It's Wine O'Clock."

Funny you mention that -- there's literally no receipt. Congress didn't ratify Ohio's constitution in 1803. It was an oversight, but it means that Ohio was technically still a territory up until 1953, when legislation was passed that retroactively granted Ohio statehood in 1803.

“3 AM”
giclée art print

It’s 3 AM in suburbia and someone is still awake. A silhouetted cat sits on a windowsill behind open blinds peering out at a mysterious nighttime world. This is her favourite post in the house. From here she can look out over the expansive lawn and clipped hedges. Her humans have long since gone to bed. There is streetlight shinning on the house, hedges and lawn. She’s hoping to see something - anything - move about in the shadows. She listens intently for any rustle in the leaves, snap of a twig, or scampering over the grass. For now, all is silent except for the faint rush of a passing car. The night belongs to her.

I've drawn this in ballpoint pen in a very fine, wispy cross-hatching style trying to achieve that vague, mysterious tonality seen at that hour. I take a lot of walks late at night, and this is a home l've passed several times, complete with the lit window. I always imagine a cat sitting there, and the beauty is that I can make it so.

This is a companion piece of sorts with “The Yearning for Adventure”, also available in my Etsy shop.
