Vision Zero is not guessing where to invest. More than half of fatal and serious injury crashes are concentrated on just 7% of Columbus streets.  The city is redesigning those corridors right now. New crosswalks. Protected bike lanes. Safer intersections. This is how we prevent the worst crashes.

Flashing Yellow Arrow signals are activated on S Hamilton Rd at Groves. Kingsland, Macsway. Eastland One, Eastland Two, I-70 EB and I-70 WB. After installation at Hilliard-Rome and Roberts Rd, we saw a 31% decrease in injury crashes in just 9 months. Vision Zero means designing safer streets!

7 intersections on S Hamilton Rd - Groves Rd, Kinglsand Ave, Macsway Ave, Eastland One/Eastland Dr, Eastland Two, I-70 EB and I-70 WB - will soon have Flashing Yellow Arrow signals. These reduce the frequency and severity of left-turn crashes by giving drivers more opportunities to turn safely.

Slow speeds allow us to keep an eye out for Columbus kids and react faster to unpredictable movements. In a school zone, 20 is plenty. Thank you to @columbusdps crews for installing the infrastructure that gives us a physical reminder of the lives we all have a responsibility to protect.

In the last 8 months alone, there have been 6 traffic fatalities on Cleveland Ave. This public health crisis requires a community-wide solution. Vision Zero partners are working together to determine which interventions could be applied to this corridor to meet the Linden community's unique needs.

A new backpack. A new grade. A whole school year ahead of them. School zones exist because the people inside them are still figuring out how the world works. They are counting on the people behind the wheel to already know. Stop for the bus. Take the extra second at the crosswalk.

611 crashes in Columbus in 2024 involved pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. People moving through their day with nothing between them & whatever was coming. We can change that. Slowing down is one of the smallest things we can do with some of the biggest impact. columbus.gov/visionzero

It's National Stop on Red Week. Failure to yield is one of the top 4 most fatal crash factors on Columbus streets. Near misses are all too familiar and easy to gloss over, but these intersections connect lives every single day. Everyone deserves a safe trip home. columbus.gov/visionzero

Before & After on our latest test project at E Livingston Ave, leading up to the high-crash intersection at Courtright Rd. We installed water barriers to close the 1000-foot right hand turn lane. By narrowing the roadway, we hope to slow drivers, reduce erratic driving behavior and reduce crashes.
