Heathcliff sits on the witness stand in a courtroom, being questioned a lawyer while a judge watches on. Heathcliff's holding a ventriloquist dummy that looks exactly like the opposing counsel. The lawyer and judge both look at Heathcliff angrily, and the judge, banging his gavel, says "Objection sustained."

Holy shit, listening to this playlist just now, I totally forgot this track existed: youtu.be/KSMmINnngHk?... (I wrote that song - we'd released a split single covering each other, but I don't think this was on the regular album release. These guys went on to far more notability than me....)

Just learned some shocking and destabilizing information about Roy Orbison
The five musicians also bonded over a shared appreciation of the English comedy troupe Monty Python.[22] Harrison, who had worked with the members of Monty Python on various productions by his company HandMade Films since the late 1970s, particularly appreciated Orbison's gift for impersonation and his ability to recite entire sketches by the troupe.[23][24]

I had a friend who was mostly convinced that Whitney Houston was Elvis' love child. (Her mother was a backup singer and the timing lined up.) My kids (adopted) have similar finding stories, but Elvis does not line up with them, other than transcendentally.

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

The hacky way is to add #t=1h1m1s to the end of your YouTube link, just replacing the "1"s with whatever hour, minute, second you want. Hardcore way is to do it all in seconds, like #t=5068s or whatever.

“Suppose one reads a story of filthy atrocities in the paper. Then suppose that something turns up suggesting that the story might not be quite true, or not quite so bad as it was made out. Is one's first feeling, 'Thank God, even they aren't quite so bad as that,' or is it a feeling of disappointment, and even a determination to cling to the first story for the sheer pleasure of thinking your enemies are as bad as possible? If it is the second then it is, I am afraid, the first step in a process which, if followed to the end, will make us into devils. You see, one is beginning to wish that black was a little blacker. If we give that wish its head, later on we shall wish to see grey as black, and then to see white itself as black. Finally we shall insist on seeing everything -- God and our friends and ourselves included -- as bad, and not be able to stop doing it: we shall be fixed for ever in a universe of pure hatred.”
