I get that we often think of survey data mainly as data and having more data at lower cost seems great, but at a very fundamental level we run surveys because we want to know what people think. If we don't care enough about people's views to ask actual people, why bother at all?

I will never forget all the cynical gainsaying and disinformation about the strike on Al-Ahli hospital ten days into Israel’s destruction of Gaza. ‘Fog of war’. Almost three years later, fewer than half of Gaza’s hospitals remain even partially functional and there is no fog. Only dust and rubble.

Insane that it's taken this long. Understand it's a 'complex investigation' and everyone involved has strong reasons to hide/delete evidence/stonewall but still... Hopefully this leads somewhere.

Disagree. It's one speech, the core of the Mandleson/McSweeney project is still very much intact. Labour is still the party arresting 80 year old retired vicar's claiming they're terrorists. Do not do a 180 on support simply because Burnham can read a speech. Actions matter.

Once again, Christian Concern representing utter shits. Of course a mental health charity that works with LGTBQ+ people wouldn't want to employ a bigot who would quite likely make services users utterly miserable. But Christian Concern can't have bigots facing consequences so here we are.

You know that saying about how the way they treat asylum seekers is the way they’d treat everyone else if they thought they could get away with it? Well,
The Tories said the reduced subsistence allowance would be loaded onto pre-paid card that would not allow cash withdrawals, and would "prevent spending" on alcohol, cigarettes, or gambling.
The party is yet to detail how its proposal would work, but shadow welfare secretary Helen Whately said it would be "a version" of the pre-paid Aspen card issued to asylum seekers living in government-funded accommodation.
These cards cannot be used to make contactless, telephone or internet payments, whilst asylum seekers whose applications have failed cannot withdraw cash.
