I have a duty to the children to raise my library voice and say, "Free Palestine." It is not too dangerous to say. It is human decency. Palestinian people are worthy of tomorrow. We are human.

"What We Harvest" by Ann Fraistat just grabbed me by the throat and won't let go. Spooky farm-town horror with a refreshingly grounded YA romance. I want to try Unicorn Braid bread, dang it 🦄🌈🌾🍞 Also highly recommend her novel "A Place for Vanishing" with a lush, Southern Gothic haunted house vibe.

Let's sing the praises of the freshwater drum (sheephead), an overlooked native fish that has been crushing trillions of invasive mussels in Lake Erie. Could it signal a shift in the quagga mussel's dominace over Great Lakes food webs? buff.ly/mKnwMvy

"Everyone wants a revolution but no one wants to do the dishes" In my experience lots of people are ok to do the dishes and they're heroes and usually they are women, because women don't see that work as shameful. But men do not see that leadership as leadership and so women get fed up and leave.

I do not understand the "fairness in sports" thing, in part because it isn't a thing, but also "fair to who" is always the question. People who are taller have an advantage in basketball. Does that mean we ban tall people? Why would THAT be fair?

I want to see a movement rise that actually puts the needs, dignity, and thriving of all human beings first—and you'll know if it does, because the media will treat it as "dangerous" in a way that it never managed for open white supremacist fascism led by an illiterate addled Nazi ragejunky.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the beauty of diversity above and below the surface. Environmental advocacy and the LGBTQ+ rights movement share a common purpose: protecting vulnerable communities, caring for the spaces we all call home, and creating a world where we all can flourish.

In 2016 (!), my natural resources economics prof claimed that climate change wasn't a threat, because we could just turn up the AC. And effects would happen so far in the future that developing countries would have widespread AC access by then. Happily, he's no longer with the UM econ department.

we don't have a masculinity crisis. we have a patriarchy crisis. patriarchy creates and sustains male unhappiness with its dogmatic, toxic, rigid definition of masculinity which says the worst and most undesirable thing a human can be is female which is how we get insults like "Low-T Talarico"

Michigan is adding water hyacinth and water lettuce to the state list of Prohibited Invasive Species. Get to know these plants and how to report them! content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MID...
Side-by-side infographic of two invasive aquatic plants. Left: water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) with purple flower clusters, round waxy leaves held above water by swollen stems, and dangling roots. Right: water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes), a free-floating plant with fuzzy, ridged leaves and long roots, producing new plants on horizontal runners. Both labeled “Invasive,” with a prompt to report sightings to EGLE.
