Brandon Schroeder received these goodies after his fisheries heritage talk at Thunder Bay Natl Marine Sanctuary this week. Coincidentally, the fact sheet (which highlights MI's rich fossil-hunting) was a product we helped create back in the mid-2000s. We love when our work comes full-circle!

If you use Great Lakes water level tools, nautical charts, or GIS programs, you rely on the Great Lakes Datum (official reference point for measuring water heights). Talk about a spooky name: Invasive bloody red shrimp seem to have successfully set up shop in all five Great Lakes. Researchers don't have clear evidence that the shrimp are harming the Great Lakes, but any change to an already wobbly food web could bring long-term consequences:
