the horrific cornell gang rape case has me thinking about emma sulkowicz who alleged she was raped as a student at columbia in 2014 and never got any justice. it has me thinking about the physical and mental weight young women are forced to carry while their safety is subsumed by male potential.

$Instagram post reading: During Saturday's September 19th Gotham FC vs. NC Courage match, commentary following an incident where Jordynn Dudley's hair was pulled in the 53rd minute crossed a line into unfair critique. Hair pulling is an objective foul, regardless of intent. Yet instead of addressing the infraction, commentators criticized Jordynn's hair length, framing the foul as a "consequence" of her style and a "risk" to opposition players. A player's hairstyle should not be used to shift responsibility for a foul onto the player who was fouled. Players should be able to wear their hair in a way that reflects who they are without it becoming justification for unfair criticism when an opponent commits an infraction. Congrats on the brace and cinching, Jordynn. Good luck in the playoffs.$
