I just listened to the Andy Burnham speech. It was, not to put this lightly, brilliant. Has it convinced me that everything is sorted? No. Does it feel like there’s a plan? Yes. Is all of it achievable? I do hope so. Does it mean I’ll vote Labour again at the next election? TBC.

As a side note to this: The best thing that Andy Burnham’s Labour Party can do right now is reach out to both Ed Davey and Zack Polanski. Whether he needs them for a coalition after the next GE or not, now is the time to get both the Lib Dems and Greens on board - especially around care.

The personal allowance limit should rise at least in line with the basic state pension, but for everyone rather than just for pensioners. That way, young people won't get the sense that they're being asked to shoulder the burden of an ever more expensive older generation with nothing for them.

The LibDems threw away a chance to differentiate themselves when they underplayed Brexit at their conference. If Labour end up calling for Rejoin before they do, that's several points of support that will drain away immediately, making the LibDems much less competitive. They could have owned it...

Incidentally, Burnham referring to the two previous conference votes on proportional representation is a tribute to the diligent work of campaigners in the party. They worked extremely hard to build a base of support in Labour, against the odds.
