**Lights Out Alert Sunday & Monday Nights** Birdcast is estimating 300-400 million birds will be in flight.
From meteorologist Eric Snitil

**Lights Out Alert Sunday & Monday Nights**

"Heads up birders, I would not be surprised if the biggest bird migration night of the year happens over the next 2 nights. Birdcast is estimating 300-400 million birds will be in flight. That is a lot, but the pattern could not be better for migratory birds. A massive area of high pressure will turn the low level winds from the northeast to the southwest across most of the US. The last time we had anything similar to this in the fall was early October last year when a record 1.25 billion birds were in flight. I doubt we get to that level, but I suspect the number will top 500 million especially Monday night which looks to be the bigger of the two nights. You can help by turning off those outdoor lights on big migration nights, and the next 2 nights is about as big as it gets."

The swamp enjoys showing off its pinewood gingertails colonizing all of its the dead hemlocks every autumn, but what's not been mentioned yet is that they're always full of mites. #FungiFriends #arachnids #ento

Locking people up for using drugs will never make sense to me. The people I've known who've used drugs, in spite of the threat of severe consequences, did so bc they are not/were not okay. Locking people in dungeons traumatizes them further and makes these patterns even harder to break.

I did a brief thread on living with wasps last week, with a photo of this nest that's been on our barn all summer. The wasps learned not to adhere the nest to the garage door, since we open it daily. This clip shows how they engineered the nest to avoid any problems. bsky.app/profile/clim...

This is how I plan to cut #GardenWild s first "piedmont prairie " client this year as well. Small in comparison, only 4 acres, but diverse- and the plan is to leave the best plant diversity in islands and mow areas still under invasive removal/control- leaving large "islands" for overwintering

In the third panel we pan to the left and see that there is a crow standing next to the dragon on the treasure.
