There's a thread on AskReddit asking, "People who have had to drain their life’s savings on a single event, what happened?" 99% of the answers are depressing American stories about medical bills, 1% is an Australian who found a wombat burrowing under their house.

A wombat undermined our house to build his burrow.

Nearly $50k in foundation repairs, plus $200 in chicken wire to keep him out.

Now he’s done the same thing to the shed, so $5k to build a new shed on the other side of the property.

Here he is, old Fat Bastard himself..

Edit: it’s wild how many people are suggesting we “get rid” him... Apart from it being very much illegal, the idea would just never even cross my mind. It’s his home too.

He’s now settled in his new burrow, and our house is wombat-proofed. The worst he does now is dig up my potatoes.

German Film Festival today and me and friend went to see Reifenstahl, doco on the director of Triumph of the Will and Olympia. Absolutely fascinating, and she spent the sixty years she had after the war defending that she knew nothing that happened until 1945. And so many parallels to today.

We've often thought that one way of shortening Tests to 2 days is just to play the 15 sessions back to back during our summers when it doesn't get dark. Other solutions appear to be available.

Fun fact - the parrots we study vary a lot in how they sit when we take photos! Some (regent, superb and swift parrots) sit up nicely looking like perky little birds🫡 Others (gang gang and OBP) just kind of flop over onto your hand and look like a puddle 🫠 very cute, very silly 🪶🧪🐣🦜🌿🌏
