I asked some friends of mine to do a few lines of my poem ‘Ode To Square Chapel’ in support of my quest to help #SaveSquareChapelArts in Halifax. Without hesitation… they all chipped in. 🙌 It’s what friends are for. Please re-post if you enjoy! x

My American cousin was charged over 40,000 dollars for a treatment my wife received without charge on the NHS. It’s not perfect, but we need to fight like hell to defend it, and make sure it’s properly funded.

''Ah-Ahhhhhhh-Ah''. Immigrant Song. Led Zeppelin. 1970. What 60’s or 70’s song is living rent-free in your head?

Saw Robert with Saving Grace back in 2024. Wonderful musicians and well worth catching a live gig if you get the chance. They also played a version of Rain Song, which brought back great memories of seeing Zeppelin in the 70s. #SavingGrace #RobertPlant

An amazing story of hospitality in a time of dire need... and it spawned the hit musical 'Come From Away' (4 Olivier awards and a Tony). We saw a great touring production in 2024.

A perfect example of why medical research and application need support and nurturing... and why most 'developed' societies strive to make healthcare affordable, or free.

I’m going for a viewing at #SquareChapelArtsCentre Halifax tomorrow, to see what state it’s in after it fell into darkness. Even if I’m unable to save it (& I’d dearly love to) let’s hope there’s some kindly, art-loving benefactor out there who cares enough about it to do so! 🙏🏻 🤞 🙌

Great line up. Took our American cousin to Harlow Town park for a free Hawkwind gig in 1974 .... it rained there as well. Don't think my US cousin had ever seen anything quite like Hawkwind! Harlow Park had free concerts from 1973-1988, with some great names. www.ukrockfestivals.com/harlow-free-...

I nominated this for Johnnie's (Walker) Jukebox on his Radio 2 Sounds of the 70's show, and it was put in. Sadly, Johnnie left us in 2024. DYK that Mouldy Old Dough is the only UK number 1 song featuring a mother and son in the band. I remember if from being played a lot in fairgrounds.

When I was writing my Fine Art Degree thesis (46 years back) I wrote questions to several artists in the USA, including Andy Warhol. This little card was the only thing in the envelope I got back, but he famously used aides in 'The Factory'. What do you think, fake or real?

I visited Shea Stadium (from the UK), in the early 70's. Apparently, the Beatles played it with 300 watts from their instruments, supplemented by an estimated 700 watts from the house PA system.... all cancelled out by 55k+ screaming fans. I have a 150w amp in my shed!

Standards watchdog resumes investigation into Nigel Farage over financial gifts
Reform UK leader’s return to Clacton restarts inquiry into £5m gift from cyrpto-billionaire and support from fraudster The suspended parliamentary standards investigation into Nigel Farage over accusations he failed to declare gifts and donations has resumed after the Reform UK leader’s re-election as the MP for Clacton. The twofold investigation by Daniel Greenberg, the parliamentary commissioner for standards, was paused after Farage resigned from his seat and called a byelection in protest at what he said was unfair scrutiny of his finances. I remember my mate and I took a crate of beers, drank the beers and then stood on the crate for a better view. Fairport Convention were on first, Chas and Dave and Todd Rundrgren were on the bill (amongst others). Great day. All for £7.50.
