Everything Carney says he needs private equity to build and finance has been done in the past by government. Instead of taxing wealth to finance these projects he is instead selling our infrastructure to the wealthy. In the end we own nothing while paying more for it.

Privatizing airports is a terrible deal for travellers, workers, and the public purse. Around the world, it has led to higher travel costs, fewer jobs and worse working conditions.

I think holding a fire sale for foreign investors, including Americans, and selling off Canada’s critical infrastructure is a bad idea and inconsistent with shoring up our sovereignty. Just one man’s opinion!

Most people don't know that the best way to make a service more efficient is to bring in a layer of upper management devoted solely to extracting a profit from it. It takes a doctorate in economics to figure that one out.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.
Carney:

"The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.

On behalf of Canadians, I want to thank the brave firefighters, first responders, Indigenous and local leaders who are working tirelessly to keep people safe.

Our government is in close contact with provincial, municipal, and Indigenous partners and stands ready to provide any additional support as needed."

Israel destroyed a Palestinian seed bank today. This is such a specific kind of evil, targeting literal hope for the future. Attempting to further alienate Palestinians from their home and land. So much destroyed just for the sake of destroying. It's awful.
agrowingculture

2/5

This morning, Israeli forces raided and demolished the Seed Multiplication Unit of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees' (UAWC) national seed bank in Hebron.

Using bulldozers and heavy machinery, the Israeli army destroyed the storage warehouses and infrastructure where essential equipment, seed materials, and tools for indigenous seed reproduction were kept.

This is not just an attack on a building-its an attack on Palestinian food sovereignty, biodiversity and cultural memory.

A socialist got elected into city council and immediately legacy media and the pro-cop opponent he beat begin to try and tarnish him. The only problem? They're using a quote where he was calling out an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory as itself being a form of anti-Semitism
Global News reports that transphobe Jaime Stein who lost the election says "Vancouver has an antisemitism problem"Leader of BC conservatives John Rustad (who's party is filled with racists) "Vancouver's new City Councillor Sean Orr says "a secret cabal of Jews" controls Vancouver's Planning Department. This is some of the worst antisemitism we've seen from a public official in Vancouver, which is sadly a high bar to cross."Sean Orr: In 2012 I sarcastically quoted the comedian David Cross while condemning an antisemitic dogwhistler on twitter. I was defending Karm Sumal against the claim he was a "globalist shill". I have been outspoken over the years opposing all forms of racism including anti-semitism. @thx1979 "Ya I hate those community minded and considerate people that value the place they live in. Good grief Karm. You sound like a globalist shill when you attack reasonable people like that. Let's realize that top down policies are over-valued already."

*post deleted*

Sean Orr: Everyone knows Vancouver city planners are controlled by a secret cabal of Jews who have a bunker in the earths core fml

@thx1979 Circular reasoning and cognitive dissonance makes for seriously dumb takes buy hey...you guys do your person.

There are two problem-solving approaches: 1) identify a problem that you want to solve, then find a method that will solve it or 2) pick a method you want to use, and go hunting for problems. The second way is the stupid way, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that it's the default method in tech.
