In 2022, Ken Sim and ABC ran on a platform of “public safety” using outdated and inflated crime rates. This time around, they are using outdated crime statistics to create a false narrative while pushing a costly & meaningless plebiscite to distract voters from their failures.

The Climate crisis is already hitting us. How we respond to it will determine how hard we get hit going forward. Instead of backsliding and cuts under ABC, we can fund our climate programs and create a Climate Defence Strategy that saves lives and takes the fight on climate to the super-rich.

COPE’s plan for a Climate Defence Strategy to hold the super-rich accountable for climate destruction and turn Vancouver into a global leader on climate.

$The UN Environmental Programme’s September 2026 report “Limiting Overshoot” says that we can no longer avoid 1.5° of warming. Every fraction of a degree beyond 1.5° will create more intense climate impacts, and increase the chances of extreme weather, flooding, disruptions to food supply, and threats to public safety. Climate change is hitting us now. The 2021 heat dome killed 621 people in BC, atmospheric rivers cut off our highway shipping routes for days in 2021, and wildfire smoke chokes Vancouver residents almost every year. How hard we get hit in the future will be based on how well we defend ourselves.$

On the passing of a great warrior & fighter for liberation, Joan Phillips.

Two weeks ago I had the honour of being invited by Joan Phillips for a visit at her home. She was so welcoming & generous with her time and stories. I was eager to ask her about how to remain a revolutionary while in elected office, and she didn’t disappoint. We talked about the power of our ancestors and the deeply urgent need for healing for all people carrying trauma over generations, both the colonizer & the colonized. My heart breaks for her loved ones to whom I send my sincere condolences. May the ancestors welcome Ms Joan home with love and in celebration of a life powefully lived.
