Time for another planned Link light rail service disruption, featuring diagrams I created as per usual. 😁

A diagram outlining the details of an upcoming disruption to Sound Transit’s Link light rail service.

On Tuesday, October 6; Wednesday, October 7; and Thursday, October 8, from approximately 10:30 PM until the end of service each night, 1 Line service will be suspended between Northgate and Westlake, and 2 Line service will be suspended between Lynnwood City Center and Westlake.

1 Line service will follow the usual schedule between Lynnwood City Center and Northgate, and between Westlake and Federal Way Downtown. 2 Line service will follow the usual schedule between Westlake and Downtown Redmond. 2 Line service will not operate between Lynnwood City Center and Northgate; riders must board a 1 Line train between these stations.

Link shuttle buses will provide replacement service along affected stations every 10 to 15 minutes. Riders must transfer to a Link shuttle bus or alternative bus service to continue their trip along affected stations.

Starting with first trains Fri., Sept. 25, buses will replace Green Line trains between Raymond Ave. and Union Depot for maintenance. Allow extra travel time. Train service resumes Mon., Sept. 28. Route 94 is also available to Snelling Ave. and downtown Minneapolis.

Agreed. I’ve not been a huge fan of how RapidRide is implemented, where stops are consolidated and routes are deleted or restructured so there’s little to no direct duplication. I like Community Transit’s approach where their BRT has much wider stop spacing with local routes as an overlay.

Thinking about how King County Metro is adding four hundred bus trips tomorrow compared to the week prior and FIVE HUNDRED trips on Sunday. It's going to take a lot of work to maintain those service levels into the future, but it's been awesome watching Metro embrace the idea of an all-week network.

ROUTE 8 and DENNY WAY: starting on Saturday, buses and cars merging onto Interstate 5 won’t compete for the same lane of Denny Way. To keep traffic flowing, people driving to I-5 south from eastbound Denny Way will turn right on Boren Ave and left on Howell St instead of using Yale Ave.

Seven daily weekday round trips on the Bremerton fast ferry will stop running after next month after the state legislature declined to provide funding to keep them going. This is a 35% cut in service.

I still remember riding the 560 to the airport for the first time. I don't remember if it was this particular bus model or if it was the diesel-electric hybrid model, but I do remember how different it was, since it's operated by a different partner agency than what I was used to at the time.
