Back to work tomorrow. I've never had so long off with illness. Trying not to start worrying about my inbox before I actually see my inbox and fighting the urge to peek and prioritise tonight. Bath and book, and phone in another room, I think. DND tomorrow morning while I tackle it.

Oooh - one for the cyclists: I got back on my bike after 13 months - first time since The Accident. I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. I felt the fear and got through it, so that's a win.

My buttonholing has been thwarted by a broken buttonhole foot. Irritatingly, I remember breaking it and thinking "I must replace that:". I did not. FFS 3 months ago me. Today me would NEVER do that. Nu uh.

Today is now buttonhole day. And I've made my own phone 'brick' - one of those devices to reduce the doomscrolling, so I'll test that out today.

Vinted is also very good for knitting pattern books - this has just arrived (I think I paid about £5 including postage) and it's gorgeous.

Knitting from the North by Hilary Grant - a collection of mostly hats, scarves & gloves which is perfect for me: I'm a slow knitter who gets disheartened if something takes forever to make. Plus I'm relearning so 'new' stitches & techniques can be practised on little things.

I've pressed the cuffs & hem of the test shirt; had my hair cut; collected a mildly disappointing Too Good To Go box of groceries from Morrisons (more bread than we can freeze/eat but the hens will be happy); taken Leo, a dog for a fab beach walk and have NOT even attempted a buttonhole.

Still procrastinating so I don't 'fail' at the buttonholes. Related have found out that Henry's vaccination record is out of date (I'm SURE he was vaccinated but I couldn't find the record card). Record card is now in a safe place. And we now have a 'joint paperwork' box which is NICE.

I have drafted my will wishes ready for solicitor. This is incredibly life-affirming. It feels like it's a reminder of how I want to live my life so I'm remembered for that - not some vague idea of who people thought I was/wanted to be. I recommend it.

Today in sorting my life out/death cleaning stuff, I found out that you can't leave your pensions to your intended beneficiary in your will and no automatic transfer if you aren't married. So extra important I find all old workplace pensions, and then contact them to nominate beneficiaries.

Flipping heck - @alistaircoleman.bsky.social asked me to bake a thing, and I do not think he realised how far out of my mum-baking comfort zone it was, but I baked the thing and it is bloody MARVELLOUS!!
